About to Undertake an EFI conversion?
You may want to consider running Straight GAS instead!
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Heres what Ive bought so far:
Impco EB-2 converter ($240 trade) cs$200
Lock Off Valve with filter $40?
EF Falcon filler valve $20? cs$260 above3
B86 or B90 APA tank ($440 trade) cs$350
Electronic Safety Circuit $20?
Copper Lines and Fittings $30?
Impco Mixer $200?
Damn! All up with all new 'Quality' brand parts it is going to end up around $1000.... not bad!
Advantages of running straight LPG over Petrol:
NO pollution requirements. S1,2,3 Rx7 owners can legally dump their Thermal Reactor, Air Pump, Solenoids, and Carbon Canister!
No fuel pump on the vehicle, which is one less component to fail. Service stations have to purchase the fuel pump to fill your tank.
10-15 year old injectors on import motors are prone to leaking / poor spray pattern and often need Replacing.
Dyno Tuning cost of LPG would be 1/2 or less of setting up an EFI system.
Running Costs of LPG would be 1/2 to 1/3 of Petrol. Think of this every time you fill up!
Components Cost is far Less Tank,Converter,mixer vs ECM, EFI Pump, Injectors, Wiring Loom.
Rough component cost LPG $1200 vs $2000 for EFI.
System Complexity is far Less which is great for Reliabilty.
Ive already done the EFI setup on an Import motor, and I know how big a job it is.
Mounting EFI fuel Pump, Mounting EFI filter, Running new fuel line and return line, Removing petrol tank and getting new fittings welded in, replacing dodgy import injectors, buying adjustable EFI pressure regulator, wiring up all the sensors etc, mounting and wiring ECM.....
What you need for your Conversion:
Download the Cylinder guide from apa and select a tank. Rx4 and 5 can use an B90 tank. first letter indicates diameter, numbers indicate length.
***Dont buy the A series tanks, unless you don't want to fit your rear speakers, get the B series!!
A = 375mm diameter 90 = 900mm length
B = 330mm diameter
C = 285mm diameter
D = 432mm diameter
D90* = $455 + gst
AFL filling valve
Flexible Service Line from filling valve to tank
Flexible serivce line from tank lock off Solenoid to underbonnet lock off Solenoid
