What's New - April 2005

April 18, 2005 - Ok, classtoday we are going to discuss the viability of Stephanie Powers as Anna in The King and I.  Ive got nothing personal against her but, COME ON, how old is that woman?  Nevermind, Ill tell you63.  Shes 63, but Im supposed to believe that she has a kid around12.  Right.  The whole time she was up on stage, I kept thinking oh, lookits GRANDMA  She sounded like Mrs Potts from the Beauty & the Beast.  Now, on the flip sideshe *DOES* look great for being 63.  But again, its all about role suitability & this one wasnt it.

SPAAAAAHHHHHHits the greatest thing.  We (Alice, Jennifer, & I) had a spa day with our moms.  It was great.  I didnt want to leave, but I was pretty darn hungry.  The new Burke Williams Spa at the Torrance Town Center is really nice.  I ran into Darrell Ms friend, Michelle, who is now a new employee there.  Its a small world after all.

Last night finished off with a nice dinner to Cinnabar in Glendale.  Henry said he had he best duck hes had in a long time thereso I order the duck.  It was pretty bad he even had to agree on that one.  The chocolate fondue thing was actually pretty good probably the best thing of the evening.  It certainly didnt rate the 25 it received from Zagat.  (they had it posted near the entrance)

Plans for this week:  Costa Rica!!  WOOO HOOO! Im not prepared at all to go but Im sure Ill wing it by then.  It should be a fun trip.  If I dont make it back home alive, its been a pleasure knowing all of you.

April 11, 2005 -
Sorry I missed last week, folks.  There wasnt anything new to report.  So my latest venture trying to roll over my 401(k).  Im a college grad.  Not that it makes me any more intelligent than a non college grad, but to a certain extent it shows that I had the tenacity to graduate from college by studyinga past time that I particularly dont care for.  Wellif the truth was to be told, I really didnt study it was only by the grace of God that I graduated.

In any case, Ive been putting off finishing up the paperwork mostly because I just dont know what the heck Im supposed to provide them with.  I read the instructions and I swearit LOOKS like Englishit just doesnt read like English.  Its jibberish!!  Whats more I was a business majoryoud think that Id understand most of the terms & phrases being used.  Nopenot so much.  So, basically, Ive got two accounts one that is a 401(k) from my former place of employment and another thats just waiting to receive the funds from my former place of employmentand no clue of how to sync the two together.  I just dont want to mess up & be dinged for taxes thats my biggest fear.  Well, nomy biggest fear is dying in a tornado in Oklahoma City but thats another story all together.

Another quirk the Asian Community.  You remember that movie Six Degrees of Separation??  Its even less in the Asian Community.  I had dinner with Shirley, Roger and their friends on Saturday night.  I went to school with Noriko for about 6 months in elementary schoolher fiance, Nate, went to church with my Pastorand his friend, Mark, played basketball with one of the deacons of my church.  Freakish.  I think thats what I appreciate about the Hakujin communitynobody knows anybody and they like it that way.  The Asian community EVERYBODY knows SOMEBODY (or is related to them) and theyre all in everyones business.
