JULY 4TH
Yes, it’s that time again. Time to celebrate the 4th of July. Grab your picnic baskets, your fireworks, games and whatever else you might need, and head for your favorite local park, or maybe the neighbors back yard. Most of us have the day off, so let’s give thanks for our Independence. Of course we will have fun, food, and entertainment. This is all well and good, but how many of us understand what it is all about? Do you proudly fly the Stars and Stripes, attend programs, activities or parades honoring those giants of American history who pledged their fortunes, lives and sacred honor so we may become a Nation of freedom and opportunity? Remember, without the sacrifice of our Founding Fathers, there would be no holidays, period! Labor day—Memorial day---Presidents day--- MLK day---or any other holiday---never would happen!
I’m afraid we tend to forget or ignore what they really left for future generations. Think about what they gave us and how we have succeeded in thwarting the very meaning of most good and decent ideas they left. Imagine what they would think of our society today. Of course they would be absolutely astounded witnessing our technological advances. But that has nothing to do with what really matters. For example, would they understand the reason behind a government based on Judea/Christian principals removing God from all public schools and buildings? Forget the Ten Commandments: teach sex education, Sodom and Gomorrah lifestyles and political correctness instead. Why not? Who needs God anyway? Certainly not our politicians or our Supreme Court! What happened to the Pledge of Allegiance in the classroom, or the daily observance of raising the American flag?
Did our forefathers overthrow the tyranny and oppression of an English King only to have us create a government far more intrusive and controlling, while at the same time placing a heavier tax burden on it’s citizens than any Monarch would dare? What paragraph in the Constitution makes it allowable to destroy millions of un-born future Americans? Has this Nation become so weak we need to get permission from others before we can defend ourselves? Why have we deteriorated to the point of allowing other Countries to kidnap, kill, maim and hold Americans hostage at will with impunity? Are we a Nation with no borders? Or do we lack the means and the will to enforce them?
English was the official language of these United States. I say was because it is rapidly being replaced by the babble of dozens of others! Will “multi-culturism” finally doom America? Where are our leaders? What has become of personal responsibility? It is a sad day when one can collect millions of dollars from a third party over self inflicted damage. Why is it becoming more and more impossible for law-abiding citizens to defend themselves? Why do criminals have more rights than victims? Have we become so arrogant we believe we can control God’s weather?
One last thought, have we already sown the seeds of Americas’ demise thru the creation of organizations like NAFTA, GATT, WTO, The Hague, the tri-lateral commission and others, especially the United Nations. Think about it! Have any of these groups actually helped us lately? Why should they? Check the records! Everyone wants to tear down America. Everyone. There is no Nation on Earth that would really care if this country ceased to exist. They don’t have to do anything---we’re doing it to ourselves! We will always need to purchase the friendship of other Nations.
Finally, let me say the United States of America, with all its faults, remains by far the most advanced Nation in the World, populated by the most caring, giving, freedom loving peoples anywhere! Let’s protect its future by remembering and honoring all the men and women of the past who created and preserved it for us. We can do no less.
