TITANIC TINO TENSION by TINO MARTINEZ
The (non-sports related) events and at least one of the characters depicted on this page are fictitious, and any similarity to actual events on this page is unfair to the Yankees themselves, in particular the former First Baseman and Yankee cutey Constantino Tino Martnez. Yes, thats right, I said cutey; Tinos so sexy that he makes Iron Chef host Takeshi Kaga seem like Freddy Krueger! (Wonder if he likes Shakira?)
Tinos music will fill you with bliss.
Someone worth listening to: A lot of the so-called great vocalists have done little more than bellow or speak out their lines, but, like Stephen Stillwell and a couple of others, Tino Martnez is an exception.
Sappy ballads but True, the material sounds a little sappy, but Tino has such an amazing voice that its worth even one listen.
TINO: One of the most amazing talents in years. If youre tired of buying one bad album after another, heres somebody whose albums are actually of good quality compared to other pop artists of the day. Most important of all: his voice
What in the world? First Tino walks away from baseball; then he releases albums of schmaltzy, over-sweetened ballads? And for crying out loud,
why did he hit the top of the album charts? He should go back to Tampa Bay and leave us the hell alone!
Lovely English dbut: All the songs are wonderfulthe best are (???)!
I cant stand him. If I hear one more thing about Tino Fartinez, Im gonna drop dead of emphysema.
I love Tino. Dont make fun of him because hes a veteran.
Sheesh! I just cant believe so many people would go literally bonkers over this man. Maybe he didnt even think of getting singing lessons before he tried recording gimme a break. How the hell could
his albums have been more successful than any other Latin artists albums? True, the other teenyboppers may not be great singersin fact some of them really sound horrible, like Justin Timberlakebut at least they put catchy dance, rock, and R&B songs on their albums. Tino has the slowest pace of them all. No wonder he doesnt have a www.tinomartinez.com. Why he recorded (???) is beyond me, because that proves how schmaltzy his voice and music really are.
What do you mean, sheesh? Tino Martnezs music isnt always slow-paced, so-and-so. About three or four of the songs on this album arent slow, which suits some people fine if they dont like the tone fast-paced all the time. And by the way, what you said has nothing to do with him not having his own major website.
Tino you are no Iglesias. I liked you so much better when you were a great baseball player for the Yankees. What happened? Is
this the new path you have chosen to take? Besides, the songs are too painfully depressing and desperate like Stephen Stillwells. And you dont have the charm of Julio Iglesias when it comes to singing; you basically try too hard to feel the songs emotions. Sounds like youre going through a mid-life crisis.
Tino has retired. Get over it. Why do you Tino fans wallow over him when you know damn well that his days of playing in MLB are over? Besides, he cant even sing as well as he could play.
Beautiful voice, handsome man: I dont care what he looks like, how old he is, or where hes from. His voice is one of those you rarely hearunless you talk Andrea Bocelli or the like.
Tino does have an amazing voice. Despite what the so-called Moose fans say, Tino Martnez has one of the most unusually remarkable voices of modern times. After all he was born in 1967.
Goodbye is the saddest word. You dont hear a voice like this very often.
Forget his age. To all those people who have known Tino Martnez when he joined the New York Yankees, he was as hot then as A-Rod is now. To those who think hes too old to sing, what makes you think Andrea Bocelli wasnt popular at the age of 37 when he released Romanza? And to the people who spoke of Tino playing for the Yanks, the Cards, and the Devil Rays, yeah we know that. But havent you forgotten he also played for the Seattle Mariners? If so, the information is there for anybody and everybody who does the research.
What a waste of two months waiting! Thanks a lot, Sony, for making us Americans wait two months just to get this album. Europe, Canada, UK, et al got it before we did, but there is no (???) on our pressing while they get that song. And Japan is getting that song plus (???), which is an exclusive Japan-only bonus track. Why arent we? Tino is an American artist, but his record label treats their artists albums by not putting the missing songs on our pressing as well. Sorry, folks, but there is such a thing as freedom of choice, and Im buying the Japan import.
Hes too old for musical recognition. Weve been forced to accept Andrea Bocelli as one of the greatest opera singers, and now were forced to acclaim veteran Yankees/Cardinals/Devil Rays First Baseman Tino Martnez as one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Wait a minute. Are the two really so different that we can say one hands washing the others? If they are, it seems like the Monkees gone psycho.
Is it just me or is Tino Martnez hot as sin?
This is pop garbage. Listen to something else instead. With
Serenity, Tino Martnez finds himself in the depths of musical despair, sabotaged in such a way that the album becomes an immediate sellout and leaves him with a bad name. I did like his earlier effort Goodbye, but this one makes the former not as worthy of the 10 million plus records it sold in America alone. All we hear throughout the entire disc are watery ballads that dont even support his welcoming charisma. Why dont you listen to the aforementioned album Goodbye or some Buena Vista Social Club instead?
Why is it pop garbage? You misunderstood Tino Martnezs popularity status, so-and-so. Just because this album sold over 6 million copies, doesnt mean Tino can be criticized as a sellout. You dont hear him at all on the hit music stations, so it seems as if the quality of his music is too nice for the pre-adult crowd to take in. But his voice has won huge favor from millions of people all over the world. You have to give him credit for that.
Treat Takeshi Kaga like dirt but not Tino. Every time I read something about Tino sucks this and so-and-so is better that, I get very outraged. Tino has an extremely rare, almost Disney-bait voice you dont find in most other pop artists of the day. His voice is used in the way all voices should be used, and not like bozos like Takeshi Kaga who do nothing but yell out their lines.
Its Tino Time! Anti-Tino people: YOU ARE SORE LOSERS. Tino Martnez is one of the best Latin artists since Julio Iglesias and Tito Puente. But he is not
the only great Latin artist. Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, La India, and dozens of other Latin artists are just as important, but Tinos setting an example as to the kind of Latin artist they are.
YAY! The previous album was crap. This one is much better!
Hes popular. Whats wrong with that? More people agree with Tinos fans that he does have an amazing voice. This album has sold over 6 million copies in the United States alone and sources tell me it was no more extensive commercialism than it was intense public reaction to his live performances on shows like (???). And, unlike people like Ashlee Simpson, at least Tino doesnt have a reality show. Plus, if it werent for the strong support of (???), I dont think Tino would be where he is now as an artist. Regarding the album, its not the kind of music heard anymore on the Top 40 and hit music stations than on stations that arent as popular among listeners who have little or no taste in music.
His voicedeserves better than this. With all the pseudo-Latin fluff on the disc, you might expect something appropriate for Tino Martnezs superb voice. Instead, we get nothing but wild dance songs that dont suit his voice at all. Maybe on future releases his producers will come up with more reasonable material for his voice.
Why? Why is Tino Martnez releasing albums? If he had started younger, he might have had a bigger following. You dont read 5-star reviews about this man is sexy! when it comes to him. He was much better as a baseball player, and hes no longer doing that. Now hes got a whole new career, which doesnt suit him at all. Tino, do us a favor and go back to Tampa Bay!
Simply serene: All I can say is that Tino Martnez has done it again with Serenity. Even the catchiest tunes have been performed in the most dulcet way.
Just love the man! True, Tino Martnez may not have the same amount of attention A-Rod, J. Lo, Jeter, et al do, but thats not the issue here.
Tino takes us into his magical world of Serenity. With this CD, listeners can expect Tino Martnez to have bravely expanded his horizons and at the same time hold to his tried-and-true formula of mixing Latin rhythms with classical sounds.
Throw him out!! If I was a musical detective and I had the task of tracking down every pseudo-recording artist out there today, I wouldnt just take this man out. Id put every artist whose music is too soft and light (yes, this means you, too, Mika Nakashima) under arrest for destruction of musical appreciation. They should all be thrown in jail for eternity while we spare the real artists who arent singing the drivel this jerk is singing.
Too soft and light. I like your opinions, so-and-so! Tino Martnezs music, like Jeff Francoeurs, J.J. Hardys, Albert Pujols and Eric Chvezs, sounds so ridiculously like were in the pre-rock-and-roll era all over again. This is the age of hip-hop and rock revival, not sappy love ballads! If Tino and the like did music like Daddy Yankee, J. Lo, Panic at the Disco, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Fall Out Boy, Britney Spears, Shakira, and so on, then Id listen. Ivn Rodrguez and Josh Groban are complete losers because their music is also dreadfully sentimental and twice as bad. Same goes for has-beens like Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow, and Phil Collins. Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra are history. Celine Diondont get me started on her. Marco Scutaro, neither, with his ugly Mickey Mouse ears. Chipper Jones? I can live without him, too.
And dont ever mention Mika Nakashima or whatever the hell her name is around me again. Her voice is awful, and her music is too pillow-soft, too candy-sweet, much too light, and ten million times worse than even the most syrupy schlock-fest on the planet. I love you this, baby that. My family has her albums in our house, and even though we dont speak Japanese they are seriously overplayed, so I know whereof I speak.
Andrea Bocelli? I hate him worst of all. His music is of the same caliber, and yet my family likes him, too. Trash!
Serves you right! Tino shouldnt be doing music like this. Nobody wants to listen to it. Slipknot, the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, 50 Cent, P. Diddy, Panic at the Disco, Simple Plan, Shakira, etc. now these guys are scoring A+s and raking in the big bank left and right. If Tino and all these MLB Stars in Song are going to keep doing old, almost 1930s-style ballads instead of the driving, dance-driven mainstream pop songs we have on radio here, then they need to stick to baseball. It worked for the Mets, and it worked for Shaquille ONeal, but at least they did hip-hop and not crap. Final grade: Z- (I gave him this because an F seems too generous).
Nobody wants to listen to it, huh? This is to all the people who said Tino Martnez is trash compared to Britney Spears: Okay, so you kids admit you listen to the trash on American radio and think that lack of musical taste is defined by Tino and people like that. Well, you have absolutely terrible taste in music if you choose to stay stuck up only on Britney, J. Lo, 50 Cent, and all the bozos making the garbage thats out there today.
And who are you to call Aretha, Whitney, Babs, Manilow, Celine, etc. has-beens? I think it just goes to show how much mainstream pop has been spoiling the hell out of you. Yes, I remember Shaqs attempt at rapping, when he and Fu Schnickens or however you spell it collaborated as Shaq-Fu. To be honest he completely sounded like trash. Its interesting how he still managed to hold onto his fame even if by doing that reality show on ABC, Shaqs Big Challenge.
    But anyway
Get a grip, all you shallow people! Nobody wants to read your idiotic reviews about why Tinos music sucks. You think your precious Britney Spears is a goddess, but to me shes ultra-overrated, just like Jennifer Lopez. And you have the nerve to say Tino gets an F- while they get As? The tortoise beats the hare, you know.
True, pop music has definitely spoiled millions of listeners, but not all pop singers are bad as of late. And who is Mika Nakashima, anyway? I probably never heard of her but I think her musics got to be better than a lot of the musical terrorists plaguing America with their trash. And I am not racist like you were in your chastisement of her music, so-and-so.
Simply amazing: Tino Martinezs voice has everything not many singers of today have. The man who said J. No and Bratney Sneers are better than him can go shove it because we dont need him.
Dear so-and-so: I couldnt believe what you said about Tino, Pujols, etc. True, theyre not singers exactly, but baseball players who make music with a contemporary approach to traditional ballad styles. But you dont accept that. You accuse the anti-pop/rap fans like us of being people with a terrible taste in music, while you glorify your precious Linkin Park as if they were better than classic rock bands. If Tino did the same kind of music pseudo-musicians like LP put out no doubt hed have been left with a worse name than even they have.
Oh, and by the way, mainstream pop being better PLEASE! Not all pop music sounds like it was done for the sake of money or airplay. There are some who experiment in their music whether the music is pop or anything else and it works extremely well. Tino, for example, leaps from Latin jazz and ballads to heavy metal to even 1980s R&B. Britney, J. Lo, Justin, etc., on the other hand, seem to do the same song ten times over even if they attempt to make it sound different from the norm.
So dont keep making an imbecile of yourself by saying things that have nothing to do with artists whose music is ten times better than that of others.
No. Tino can sing and thats it.
Its funny how your rating system only goes down to one star but if it went down to zero, thats just what Id give this album. He sucks.
Bleurghtalk about an overrated celebrity. I hate Tino so much. Hes not cute, hes not talented, and he looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger got a facelift. But do people listen? No. Theyve loved him way too much since he joined the Yanks. How over-obsessed have they been with him? Just at the same level as that loud-voiced terror Celine Dion. If MLB offered an MOP (Most Overrated Player) Award Tino should get it. At least Marc Anthony knew he didnt have to look good to sell an album. Im glad Tinos no longer playing baseball, anyway.
Dont be so over your head about Tino. Have you listened to the album before justifying whether its good or not? If you havent, your argument wasnt that valid.
He looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger got a facelift. Well, gee, comparing Tinos image to Schwarzeneggers is like comparing J. Los to Britney Spears. But I wont get into looks here.
How over-obsessed have they been with him? Just at the same level as that loud-voiced terror Celine Dion. This is even worse than the Schwarzenegger comparison. First of all, Celine is very underrated as far as criticism goes, and yet millions love her voice and music. Some critics have compared Tinos supposedly schmaltzy voice to one Japanese female artists, whose name I dont know, but at least they didnt say, His voice is bad.
If MLB had a MOP (Most Overrated Player) Award Tino should get it. Thered never be any such thing as an MOP Award like that you spoke of. Tino was a great player.
At least Marc Anthony knew he didnt have to look good to sell an album. Of course he isnt cute, but again were going into looks, which has nothing to do with the quality of performance (as isnt the case with the majority of pop music as of late).
The album itself may seem Adult Contemporary material, but that doesnt mean its at all horrible. People like the Backstreet Boys and Good Charlotte have infested one radio station after another. Tino is not that infectious. So stop the negativity before somebody does it to you.
Okay, you ignorant people are driving me insane. If Tinos music doesnt match your taste, why do you go ahead and denounce him like hes some type of loser? Theres just too much harsh criticism leveled at these musicians who are at least trying to do something right even in the face of those who think their music is pure garbage.
Please dont give me that Tino cant sing rubbish. Nobody says anything bad about Gloria Estefans music, but thats because she knows how to sing. Ditto for Tino.
He deserves more than five stars. Tino Martinezs voice is one that comes along very rarely, even though it isnt up to the volume of Celine Dion or Barbra Streisand. The songs may be schmaltzy, but his legions of admiring fans dont want it any other way.
Tino Martnez es el nuevo prncipe de la msica Latina! Retiring or not Tino has matured into something more than just your average baseball player.
Lovely pop album: Tino Martinezs Serenity proves that he still has the charm that amazed many listeners. I find it hard to believe that I prefer him to Britney Spears.
Drenched? In an era of redefining cabaret and prostitution on the stage and the screens, few are the men involved in such acts as undressing and washing yourself in a torrential rainstorm. This man is no exception. Remember La Isla Bonita? If You Had My Love? Livin la Vida Loca? Dirrty? All these sexually orientated videos become hits immediately but get old faster than cherries in the summer. Tino does have a nice voice, but his singing on this CD seems bent on luring women into a sexual trap much worse than the Playboy Bunny would argue. Dont waste your money on this CD only to listen to his voice. Buy anything else of his instead.
What happened? Although I am no big fan of Tino Martinez, I do like his music, so with that in mind I thought I might go out and listen to this disc.
Music to die for: Id hate to say this, but Tino Martinez is one of my newest and guiltiest pleasures. This is the song hes done best. The lyrics leave you feeling deeply touched and may bring to mind memories of the ones you loved most. I got tears in my eyes and a desire to pick up Tinos music at all costs. Go out and buy this disc if you can.
Good: I liked this album very much.
Tino Martinez. Hes handsome. His voice is very sexy. Sorry to hear hes already married and has three children. His family must be so lucky to have such a handsome man for a family man.
NEVER! Im sick of hearing about how great this man is. He seems to sound so unhappy on
every track. Listen to some Julio Iglesias instead.
Truly pleasant ballads: This album has mostly ballad-type songs, but these are all sweet and pleasant. Tino sings them all very well.
Handsome TINO MARTINEZ Scoring Home Run at 2001 World Series Game 4
Some songs are missing. I love Tino. Seriously. His voice and music are inexplicable, but with this compilation, he seems to take the wrong path: putting too many of the depressing songs on one disc. What he should have done is put some more of the upbeat pop songs on it and it would have been a more interesting retrospective.
I wanna know: What part of Tino Martnez has a beautiful voice dont you understand?
Please. Tino is so ugly its not even funny.
Tino, schmino! Seems all you guys ever talk about is Tino this, Tino that, Tino, Tino, TINO! What about A-Rod and Jeter? Theyre hot, too!!
Yeah, well Jeter, schmeter! Derek Jeters music was so overrated that many people felt he should stick to baseball. I agree with that. Jeter doesnt have the vocal warmth of Tino Martnez.
I second that! Justin Timberlake should get singing lessons from this man, Tino Martnez, and the other pop horrors should get singing lessons from him, too. By the way, Tino is a fantastic vocalist.
Tino is a fantastic vocalist? Grow up you Ricky Martin-loving twerp. Tino cant sing and he is uglier than that Japanese sourpuss Takeshi Kaga. At least his behind isnt overrated like J. Los is.
Hey! Who are you calling a Ricky Martin lover? I hate Ricky.
He cant sing. And if you think Tino is uglier than that jerk Takeshi Kaga, youre apparently in love with horror film creatures like Freddy Krueger.
Ugh! How can people stand to listen to this massacre? This aint the Age of Aquarius anymore! This is the Age of Technology! This is the Reign of Daddy Yankee, Shakira, Fall Out Boy, Beyonc Knowles, 50 Cent, and the like, not idiots like Chipper Bones, Ivn Fraudriguez, Eric Chimpass, Barbra Spritesand, Michael Jolton, Dodger Clemens, Albert Pimples, Josh Bucket, Nick Squisher, Celine Beyond, Josh Grown Man, Shrill Collins, John Schmaltz, Tray Aiken, Jake Pee-pee, Jason Giambroids, Andrea Bochunky, Paul McCrudney, J.J. Farty, Green Bay, James Grunt, Barry Ponds, Michael Bubble, Jeff Frankfurter, Tim Crudson, Gary Cantfield, Snobby Abreu, Mika Nakashrilla (hope I spelled her name right), Psycho Screwtaro, and especially Tino Fartinez himself.
Tino, you should just retire if youre going to do the old, elevator muzak stuff or the other light fluff no kid likes nowadays.
PLEASE FOCUS YOUR COMMENTS ON TINO! To the people who keep posting needless responses about Tino cant sing and hes worse than Takeshi Kaga, your reviews are really getting on everyones nerves. Talking about the Mike Mussinas, the Michael Boltons, or the Ricky Martins in place of the Tino Martinezes in his catalogues is like saying something about Kenan and Kel on a Three Stooges forum. And dont mention the Takeshi Kagas anywhere, because nobody can stand his voice.
Ten-star artist: Tino Martnez cant sing...oh yes he can. He may not have a Frank Sinatra or Whitney Houston style of singing but the diction is clearer than a lot of todays voices. Listen to any of the other Yankees albums: even the hottest looking dudes of the bunch (A-Rod and Derek Jeter) have nothing musically stable so their voices mimic those of artists like Simple Plan.
And what is it with the ignorant name calling? I dont care who it is doing it, but I hope those people dont cry wolf when other people slam the musicians they like.
Enough is enough! If I ever met any of you idiots who called Tino Martnez an idiot, Im gonna knock you out of Yankee Stadium!
