MAYLAND WRITERS' GROUP
MEETING COURTESIES
1) The Mayland Writers' Group is open to writers of all genres.
2) All written material presented to the group will remain the sole property of the
author. If possible, please bring enough copies to pass out to those in attendance.
(10 is usually a safe number.)
3) Members must critique the manuscript and not the writer. Please be prepared to refer to
specific paragraphs/lines as examples when giving your critique.
4) No comment about your work should be considered "golden," no matter who says it.
Listen to the comment...if it works for you...if it means something to you...use it. If it
doesn't, ignore it as if it had never been said.
5) Common courtesy is expected when a member is reading his/her manuscript. Please give
the reader your full attention.
6) Please turn off cell phones during the meeting. If you must have your cell phone on,
please make sure it is on vibrate mode. If you must take a call, please excuse yourself and
move to the front of the store.
7) Since we meet in a place of business being furnished out of the generosity of the owner,
it behooves us not to wander throughout the store. To avoid any possible problems in the
future, members are asked to limit themselves to the meeting and restroom areas. |
