Personal: Alan and I have been happily married for approximately 25 years. Childless, we have 3 canine kids and 3 feline kids who we love dearly. We have both worked pretty hard through the years: he is a self employed attorney and I am a legal administrator with an environmental law firm here in Palm Beach County. Words cannot describe how excited we are to be adopting from China though whether it was wise for us to start a family so late in our lives was questionable for us. Not that this child wouldn't complete our lives - there is no question that she will. In no small measure, it has been more a question of whether we can complete her life; whether, because of our ages, we are up to the task of raising her well, of being there long enough to guide her through life's many difficult lessons, to a time when hopefully she will have reached young adulthood, happy and secure in herself and able to find her own way from there. But in the end, and with many unresolved doubts as to our own abilities, we have determined that this decision has already been made (and so too, the match, though she is not yet known to us). We know she will be a blessing for us - we just hope we are worthy of her trust." |
