Personal: Tom has worked for our local park district the last 13 years and Anita has been a flight attendant since 1967 & is currently on leave hoping to retire after daughter #2 arrives! While flying Tokyo in the mid 80's, picture after picture was taken of the beautiful children of Japan. We both fell in love with these beautiful children! Imagine our surprise at seeing an ad in our local newspaper for international adoption showing an adorable Asian baby, being ran by Lifelink. Unfortunately it was not the right time for us. Several years later, I ran into a doctor of mine who had recently adopted a baby from China with her husband. She just started saying things that were meant to be said at that time! I came home & told Tom & he said CALL the agency! The rest is history! Our DTC for Renee' Joy-Li was 9/98 & her DOR was 4/99! We left for HKG & Hunan Province (Changsha/ QiDong Welfare Institute) 6/99 to get our 26mo. old daughter & it has been nonstop ever since! Renee' was very attached to her caretaker (the Director's daughter) & was terrified at first. She has adjusted sooooooo well & is such a delight to us! Every day is new & wonderful (usually!!) She is adorable, bright & very sensitive. She has changed our lives in so many ways & added so much that we have decided to do it all over again! Actually, I was a bit hesitant because of my age, but one night at dinner Tom said," I believe God has just given me her name!" We looked Janette up on the internet & it is Hebrew meaning God's grace..........that was the confirmation I needed!!!! By the way, Renee's name was also given to Tom & it means born-again.......my Dad named me & my name, unknown to my Dad, means God's favor or favored of God! |

We are hoping for a little girl around 18 mos. but whatever, we know she |

will be handpicked for us by God & that He will put her in the hearts of CCAA for us! We are very grateful & thankful to Him & CCAA for our beautiful Renee' & her sister! We are also very grateful & humbled by the sacrifice of Renee's China parents that we might get to be her parents. We only hope & pray that they might somehow know in their hearts that she is loved & cherished! Can't wait to get our next little one & are forever in debt to Lifelink & our caseworker for all their handholding!!!! |
