Personal: After trying to start our family for four years, with the last year being filled with medical procedures, we realized God was calling us to adopt. After attending a family fair in October 1999 and meeting Kim from HIS Kids International, we simultaneously knew that God was telling us that our child was in China. We started our quest for an adoption in China in November 1999. Since Kara doesn't turn 30 until December 2000, we knew we had plenty of time to complete our paperwork with time to spare. |

In February 2000, God once again lead us to an addition to our family. On Valentine's night, our social worker, who helped with our international homestudy, called to say that there was a young mother locally who wanted to find some adoptive parents for her child. She had already interviewed three other couples but wanted to interview one more. We decided to be interviewed and that next week we were chosen as adoptive parents! On April 14, Zachary James Fabin was born. He officially became ours on May 3. Zachary means "God remembered" and God did remember our many prayers during the last four years to have a family. Now we are continuing our journey to adopt "Zoey Grace" from China. It is incredible to think that we will soon have two children in our home born in the year 2000! God is good! |
