Colin McRae 2.0 |
I bought this game not because of it's accurate simulation of rallying, but for the quick and fun multiplayer options. It's a real blast to play with others across a LAN, although I'm not sure it'd fare too well across the net.
If, like me, you can't be bothered to complete sections of the game to activate new tracks and cars for use in multiplayer, here are some cheats. Go to the drivers menu, and add a new driver. The drivers three-letter ID is not important, but when you get to the driver's name screen, enter GREATNEWS, ALLTHEBUTTONS and MINIME to get all tracks, all cars and the mini cooper respectively. You'll know if you've done it right because it'll go back to the menu rather than asking you for a date of birth.
In the less controllable cars, such as the Metro, performing a sharp handbrake turn at high speed will cause the car to roll over on it's side. It's possible to get the car to roll over a number of times - technically there's a 25% chance it'll land the right way up, and you can drive off as if nothing had happened (on arcade mode anyway - in rally mode it might not be quite so easy). If you mess around with this feature, you can create some hilarious tumbles - my favourite stunt is to do it just as you're finishing a race, so that your car rolls chaotically across the finish line, hopefully smashing into some of the innocently parked cars that finished ahead of you...
