| Nick Carter leaned his head against the cold, metal seat back. He had his hands in his lap and was impatiently tapping his sneaker-clad foot against the floor. He let out a whoosh of air as Detective Burrows and Detective Church led Brian back into the room. "Could someone please clarify why I'm here," Nick asked, crossing his arms across his chest and glowering at the two Detectives. "I think you know perfectly well why you're here Mr. Carter," Detective Church smiled meanly at Nick. "You can't hold us here without proof that we did anything," Brian plopped down in the other chair next to Nick angrily. "Mr. Carter had three fake passports, an unlicensed gun, and a check for twenty million on him," Detective Burrows stated wearily sitting at the table across from Nick, "and you Mr. Littrell, were driving a stolen Mercedes. Call me nuts but I think you were doing something." "OK, fine whatever," Nick threw his arms up in the air, "you don't even know why we were doing what we were doing; it's not like we're hard core criminals. We're pop superstars or whatever." "Look here you little-" Detective Church started then Detective Burrows cut him off. "We know that Nick, and you're right, we don't know why you did what you did; but if you could explain it to us then we could understand," Burrows leaned forward, Nick and Brian just kept glowering, "look, I want to get home as much as you do. I know this sucks, I know you don't like this. And I know you feel like you'd be betraying her, but she would rat on you. Now if you tell us everything, then we can let you go. If we think you don't know where she is." Brian looked at Nick. Nick clenched his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut. "Ok this is how it happened" Brian started but Nick interrupted. "Let me tell it Rok, I know it best," Nick sighed, his shoulders sagging, "I'll be honest with you, I really don't know where she is. All I know is she sure as hell isn't in this country. But still, I'm gonna start from the day we met." |
