Chapter 3: Clothes

"Ok, so let me get this straight the reason she was taking a shower was because you spilt our food all over her?" Kevin stood up and started to pace again, stopping in front of Nick who was sprawled in a red leather armchair that happened to be directly facing the bathroom.
"Yep, that about covers it," Nick gave Kevin the 'I-didn't-do-anything' smile, too bad it wasn't going to work.
"Not this time Nick, you need to come up with a better excuse than-" Kevin started but was cut off by Brian.
"Well it does make sense if you think about it," Brian started from behind Kevin, since he was seated on his bed, "I mean, why would Nick lie about that. Anyway look, here's a leather jacket. I know it most definitely isn't one of ours, it's too small; and it has food stains all over it."
"See, I was telling the truth," Nick's smile widened, Kevin gave him one last scrutinizing look then sighed loudly.
"I suppose I'll have to believe you this time Nick, but only because there is proof that you're telling the truth. And because I don't think you are dumb enough to, ahem, screw around with Brian in the room," Kevin rubbed his forehead tiredly, suddenly the bathroom door behind him opened with a squeak.
Cordelia was standing there, frowning slightly at Nick. The shirt she had on just brushed her knees as she stood there and she had to hold the pants up because they where so big.
"Call me absolutely and utterly off my rocker, but I think these clothes are a bit to big on me," Cordelia raised an eyebrow in annoyance at Nick as he let out a small laugh, "ha ha, that's sooooo. . . not funny you jerk."
"Sorry, sorry, don't spaz, not like I checked your clothes for what size you were," Nick stood up and walked over to his open suitcases sitting on the bed, "and anyway, I don't think I'd look good in the size of clothes you wear. Unless people go for a clothing split down the back look."
"Nick, stop babbling and just get some clothes for the girl," Brian groaned and rolled his eyes widely.
Nick got a sullen look on his face as he rummaged through his stuff, looking for something that would slightly fit her. Cordelia stood in the bathroom doorway with an amused look on her face.
After about three minutes of looking he finally found something that might look half all right on someone like Cordelia. A black stretch cotton t-shirt and some navy blue overalls.
"Done yet Nick, we need to go have dinner," Kevin stated as Nick turned around and faced him, "you've wasted enough time."
"Yes," Nick's pout deepened as he walked over and handed Cordelia the clothes; she grinned in an amused fashion at him, the she closed the bathroom door.
"Well, I should be going now. I'll just bring by your clothes tomorrow Nick," she smiled as she gathered her clothes and went to the door.
"Well, I'll walk you back to your hotel, since you know, you don't want to get mugged or anything. People shouldn't walk around alone in the big city," Nick stood up from where he had re-seated himself in the armchair.
"That's ok Nick, I have a deep rooted feeling of safety, I'm not afraid of muggers," Cordelia smiled slightly, "and anyway, you wouldn't want to have to walk back alone by yourself, now would you?"
"Hey," Nick came close to her and whispered, so Kevin couldn't hear what he was saying, "give me a break. I've been stuck with these guys all day and I want to get away from them for a little while."
Then he gave her the puppy dog face. She got an apprehensive look on her face. He whispered
"Please Cordelia."
"Alright," she rolled her eyes widely, groaning sarcastically, "you can come. But! You have to buy me something to eat, I'm famished."
He mouthed 'Thank You' to her and turned around and smiled brightly at Kevin and Brian.
"Well, I'll see you guys later," Nick grabbed his coat out of the hall closet and pulled on a pair of sneakers, "we have to go now though. Bye."
