Chapter 1: What We Are Today

"Rolling Stone want's another interview," 29 year old Logan Ritz smiled happily sitting in his chair at the head of the conference table.
"Great," Rollo Strange, 18, rubbed his dark green eyes tiredly.
"I suppose you've already booked it," Rachel Stanford sighed as she tapped her pen annoyingly on the book that was sitting on the table in front of her.
"As this groups manager, yes of course I have, it's my job," Logan looked at the only girl in the room, "you guy's and girl are the hottest pop group out right now. Do you want all that you have worked for to end? But lately, I've been noticing that something's been missing from the group. And I can't seem to put my finger on it."
"Yes I've noticed that too, and I can't seem to think what it could be," 23 year-old Danny Armstrong agreed as he jotted something down on his notepad.
"Well I happen to know what's missing but you wouldn't want to know, 'cause all you'd do is yell at me," Neville Loudon, a 21 year-old Brit, muttered barely audible.
"Oh what's the problem this time Neville?" Logan turned his attention to the younger man.
"We're missing Bailey, we've been missing her for three years and since then our spark has seemed to have diminished. She was the bad-ass, but she showed us all that we could make it big. And if you and Danny hadn't been such jack-ass's to her she wouldn't have left in the first place," Neville stated angrily. Him and Logan had fought about this often.
"She was a stoner," Logan snapped.
"She was not," Neville growled.
"Hey, you two leave me out of this," Danny defensively stated, but was only ignored.
"She was 14 and she acted wilder than I did in college, do you hear me, when I was in college. And people in college are pretty damn wild," Logan argued back standing up.
"Give me a break," Neville moaned, as he turned his head the opposite way, "you were a nerd in college, of course you weren't wild."
"Can we not get into this again?" Rachel tossed her layered dark brown hair over her shoulder; "I need to go get ready for tonight." Then she stood up and walked out slowly.
"Conference over," Rollo smiled happily as he wheeled his black leather conference chair back, then he and Neville stood up and walked out.
"You know, Neville does make a good point," Danny looked up at their manager after the room was empty besides them.
"I know that, I've known that since the day Bailey left, but I don't have enough balls to ask her back," Logan ran his hands through his hair in frustration.
"Maybe you should just admit Neville's right and apologize to Bailey for yelling at her," Danny gathered his things and put them in his book bag.
"Maybe you should apologize for hitting her," Logan shot back, then he saw Danny wince slightly.
"I never hit her," Danny didn't look up.
"Come on, admit it, we all saw the hand print and we heard you two fighting," Logan rolled his eyes, "and you were piss ass drunk. You two hated each other. And from the way you're acting, you still do."
"I haven't seen her since she left. I haven't heard from her either. As far as I know she went to the goddamn moon," Danny pursed his lips as he straightened up, giving Logan a 'back off' look.
"Give me a break," Logan rolled his eyes, and laughed, "you two have never gotten along, never will. I don't know why you even want her back in the group."
"Because," Danny walked towards the door and swung it open, "she made us do what we couldn't; she pushed us to the limit. But she made us what we are today. Without her I would still be working at a mini-mart in Nowhere, Iowa." Then he walked towards the door, before he stepped into the hallway he gave Logan on last look, trying to give him a look to tell him what he should do.
