I saw the bird cry for me
But I didnt understand what it meant

She wept continuously-
But I didnt know why

She looked up at me,
Her tears so visible; so plain

Something wasnt right here
She did know, before I

I looked up, into the darkening sky
I couldnt find the sun

I looked back, for her
But she was gone

What did she mean,
I often wonder.

Ive seen her only once since then
That day I finally saw-

I saw her smile for me
And I smiled back

Because at that moment
I knew everything was going to be all right

She told me so.

But I often wonder
Why I was lucky enough to see her cry

And I feel sorry for those who do not
For they are missing the biggest joy I have found

Its the joy of my life-
The joy she let me have

The joy I was going to vanquish

But then I saw something
Out of the corner of my blurry eyes

I saw the bird cry for me
And I now know what she meant.
