Promise of Tears

tracing pictures in the dark
void of feeling, then a spark
flame of emotion brightly burns
before the light there's much to learn
learn to care, learn to trust
learn that love is not a must
but without my heart's so still
just no wonder you broke my will
then the words that rip me apart
one more lesson for my patchwork heart
learn that love is just a game
they may care but it ends the same
learn that trust is much too deep
for another human life to keep
but mostly learn, wherever you are
the promise of tears is never far
