Deceptive Beauty

a beautiful fall
so much to recall
days so bright with joy
such a beautiful boy
beautiful thoughts and beautiful dreams
but nothing's as beautiful as it seems
beauty, i've found, never goes very deep
it grows dark beneath the surface
