CURRENT JOB PROFILE

 

·        Provide technical assistance, mentor and coaches all Formulation staff including Research Scientists, Principal Scientists and Research Fellows, as required. Maintain current technical proficiency and seek out opportunities to expand technical knowledge base. Investigate and propose new or improved processing technologies for consideration and adoption.

 

·        Manage tracking systems for areas of responsibility to meet all established Product Development dates.

 

·        Recruit train and effectively manage the ongoing performance of employees for activities relating to the development of products and processes to supply new submissions according to Watson's Strategic Framework objectives.

 

·        Manage all staff to meet Watson's Strategic Framework objectives while demonstrating corporate values in the performance of their work and in interactions with others and adhering to all Policies, Procedures and cGMPs.

 

·        Propose and submit the departments budget to the Vice President R & D. Manage the budget to produce minimum variances throughout the fiscal year.

 

·        Responsible and accountable for competently supervising subordinates in accordance with the Occupational Health Act, as well as Watson's Health and Safety policies and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs); provide all required training, equipment, tools and follow procedures in accordance with the Safety Charter; attend departmental audits and follow up on corrective actions within prescribed timelines.

 

·        Participate in the development and modification of Processing, safety, and other required training programs.

 

 

FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT EXPOSURE

 

Have acquired major formulation development exposure in the area of Modified and Immediate release tablets and capsules prepared by Direct compression, Dry Granulation and Wet granulation Process. Technologies involved in this developments includes Hydrophilic matrix systems, Hydrophobic matrix systems, Wax based systems, Fluid Bed coated and drug layered pellets, Fluid Bed coated granules, Multi Unit Particulate System (MUPS), Delayed release tablets and Licaps.

 

Have also worked up on development of specialty products like Mouth dissolving tablets, Buccoadhesive tablets, Enhanced activity drug delivery system (Patented Gastro-retentive platform technology), Osmo-microsealed systems (Patented platform technology), osmotic push pull systems, Medicated chewing gums, Wurster coated muccoadhesive particulate system, Dry powder for Reconstitution,  Dry Powder Inhalation and Hydro-alcoholic gels.
