MWF World Heavyweight Champion: "The Player" Ace Spade
versus
MWF Tag Team Champion: "Hardcore Living Legend" Insane
Wayne
MWF World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match
Referee: Charles Galliant
Writer: Dom Stoate
[As both men begin the match, they both seem to have the same idea
and go for clotheslines. Only one man comes out actually landing the
move however, and that is the physically superior, Insane Wayne, who
knocks the World Champion back onto his shoulders into the canvas.
The fans make a huge noise as he does so, and an even bigger sound as
Wayne turns around and nails Ace Spade with a shot to the nose.]
JP: Insane Wayne, the challenger for this match landing short,
sharp blows to the face of Ace Spade. On paper, Sully, it is not
wrong to say that Insane Wayne is the under dog. Ace Spade is the
Champion and so, technically, that puts him above Insane Wayne in
this match.
Sully: Speaking of above, that World Title is what they're
fighting for, and one of them has to get the ladder from the outside
of the ring, stand it up, and climb the ladder, unhooking the titles
to become the new champion. All without being dragged down by their
opponent!
JP: It isn't going to be easy for either man, I can tell you that.
Ace Spade has clambered to his feet and is on the receiving end of
another blow upside the head that sends him sprawling back onto his
shoulders. Insane Wayne shows off a little bit and gets a rather
massive pop from the audience as he does so, shoving Ace Spade into
the corner before pulling back his arm and pounding it against the
chest of the cornered man. Ace Spade cries out as his chest is
slapped hard, and it reddens almost immediately. Another chop wracks
Spade's chest and he stumbles forwards, straight into a huge bull dog
from Insane Wayne that sends Spade to the ground harshly.
JP: And now, Wayne has the first opportunity to bring the ladder
into the equation.
And, as if on cue, Wayne moves over to the ladder after sliding
beneath the bottom rope and grips onto the rungs of the ladder with
his big, solid hands. He turns and slides beneath the bottom rope,
pulling the ladder in with him. The fact that he has to drag the
ladder in behind him causes a delay, and Ace Spade has the chance to
rouse himself before leaping forwards and landing a huge drop kick to
the shoulder of Wayne, pushing him back out of the ring, landing hard
on the top of the ladder as he is kicked hard. Wayne cries out as he
lands chest-first on the steel structure and the fans make a slightly
concerned (but, to be honest, more entertained at the bump) sound as
Spade stands back up and looks down at Wayne who rouses himself
quickly. Spade slides beneath the bottom rope, but only as Wayne
makes tracks back towards getting into the ring without the ladder,
so that now Wayne stands in the ring and Spade remains outside with
the ladder.
JP: Look at that coward! As soon as Wayne gets into the ring, he
flees!
Sully: Alright, JP. The fans are already belly-aching, no need for
you to, too .
Spade taps the side of his head knowingly as he turns to face the
nearest group of fans, particularly one group who proudly fly a
banner with a picture of Insane Wayne on. Ace Spade frowns and tears
the flag from the audience member's hand before tossing it down to
the ground and spitting on it. This rouses huge amounts of jeering
and boos from the crowd, and Ace Spade turns around just in time to
be grabbed harshly and crudely by the hair from Insane Wayne who
leans down over the ropes. He cries out as Wayne mercilessly tugs him
into the ring and yanks away, lowering his head and shoulders before
butting them into the midsection of Wayne, who doubles over, giving
Spade a chance to hop off the apron and walk away from the ring
again, watching Wayne stand back up, concern on the Champion's face.
JP: I know it, you know it, Sully, and he knows it. You can't win
a match outside of the ring like that.
Sully: Unless it's a cage match.
JP: Well you know damn well that this isn't a cage match, Sully.
This is a World Title Ladder match and his title is on the line, and
if he doesn't get inside that ring then he will not defend his title,
and it will go to Wayne fair and square.
Sully: He just needs a little bit of time to compose himself,
that's all. He needs to focus and get ready before defending his
title.
JP: This is the match! He should be ready by now, and shouldn't be
eating up into this time just because he is too much of a coward to
face Wayne here and now.
Sully: I don't know how you can say that, JP, I really don't know.
Ace Spade runs his thumb and forefinger down either side of his
face, looking very concerned as he watches the ring, with Wayne
taunting and gesturing to him from inside. The referee leans outside
of the ring and barks at him to re enter the ring, but he does not.
He moves over towards the ramp area, shaking his head and moving his
hand about in a negatively-dismissing manner.
JP: Oh, get in the ring, you coward!
Sully: Hush!
And then, after a moment or two of contemplation, he would move
back down to the ring gradually, taking each step rather slowly as he
moves back, stepping up to the apron and looking towards Wayne. Wayne
would beckon towards him and Ace Spade would bite his lower lip, the
chant of 'Spade sucks!!' getting to him enough to will him into the
ring, sliding under the bottom rope abruptly. He is met by a barrage
of kicks but manages, somehow, to avoid the bulk of them by pulling
away into the corner. Wayne follows him, aiming a huge big boot, but
he ducks and throws himself out of the way, leaving Wayne hung up on
the top turnbuckle by his leg. Spade would stand back up, dashing
forwards to take advantage of Wayne's situation. He pounds away at
the head of Wayne before pulling at him and sending him flying only
to land on his back for a huge neck breaker that rouses some applause
from the audience.
JP: That's a bit more like it, give us a match, for God's sakes!
Spade drops down to the ground and rolls beneath the bottom rope,
moving towards the ladder which he grabs and hauls towards the ring.
He slides it under the bottom rope and slides in after it, Wayne is
now half-sitting up, hand resting on the back of his head as he
grimaces. The ladder is set up in the corner carefully by Spade and
by now, Wayne is in pretty much a standing position. Instead of
making moves to ascend the ladder, Spade turns towards Wayne and
grabs a handful of his hair in a very rough manner, before dragging
him towards the ladder that is standing up in the corner. Wayne would
not put up the sort of fight that would trouble Ace Spade and, after
his head is pulled back, he is thrown hard into the standing ladder,
colliding with it harshly. The ladder makes a clanging sound as he
impacts before tipping over against the turnbuckle. Wayne drops onto
his back, holding his head that is now split open and leaking blood
profusely.
JP: Spade putting the ladder towell, I say 'good' use, but there
wasn't anything particularly good about the impaction of Wayne's head
and that solid metal structure.
Sully: And now, Spade is showing the people that doubted him just
what he is made of, and what he can do not just in the ring
wrestling, but also what he can do with ladders. He is a versatile
wrestler, and a very, very good World Champion.
JP: Well, I have to admit that I had my doubts, but the World
Champion is showing true ability in the ring tonight. But it is not
over yet, Sully. He still has to climb that ladder to reclaim what he
believes to be his and his alone.
Wayne, who remains crying out and bleeding on the ring mat, does
not show signs of recovering quickly and Spade, who spares no more
than a careless glance at his opponent, moves back over towards the
ladder which he hauls away from its leaning place on the turnbuckle
and sets up near the middle of the ring.
JP: And it looks as if Spade is going for the kill here. If he
manages to pulls his title away from the harness then he will retain
his title and be the happiest and most relieved man in this arena
tonight.
He straightens the ladders legs out carefully before taking a step
onto the bottom rung, hands on the outside of the legs. He starts to
climb up, breathing heavily as he does so.
JP: The CURRENT Champion looking just a little bit winded as he
makes his way slowly up the ladder.
So slowly, in fact, that it allows Insane Wayne to make his way up
to his feet, one hand devoted to holding the gash across his brow,
blood leaking down one side of his face from the incision. He'd rest
one hand on the ladder and would give it a short, sharp and violent
push which is just enough to make it lose its footing on the canvas.
Spade, who has raised high enough to make a grab at the title
immediately clamps both hands down onto the top of the ladder so he
does not fall off. Wayne leans back before pressing both hands onto
the ladder and giving it another short violent shove that sends the
ladder tipping to the side with Spade on it. Spade soars over the top
rope and hits the outside mat with a thump. The audience applause
ferociously as Wayne leans on the ropes, head hanging as he breathes
heavily, the blood still leaking furiously from the wound and
dripping onto the canvas.
JP: He did it! He managed to tip the ladder down and the Champion
went flying over the top rope! Both men are down, but I think you
wouldn't be the wisest to bet against Wayne grabbing the title now.
Sully: Sure, Spade is out of the ring, but look at Wayne. He is
going to have to take action quickly or else he will pass out of
blood loss before the match is over.
JP: That, of course, does have to be taken into heavy
consideration.
Wayne pulls away from the ropes and pushes the ladder (which is
leaning against the ropes that Spade had tumbled over) back up to a
standing position. Spade remains out side of the ring, holding his
head and laying in a foetal position on his side. Wayne stands back
up and staggers about a bit, teeth bared as his blood runs into his
mouth as he pulls the ladder up into a standing position and
straightens it up. At this moment, Spade realises the urgency of the
situation and so is now standing again, holding onto his head,
struggling to roll under the bottom rope as quickly as he can.
Sully: You can't ignore the resilience of the Champion, though. He
is so quick to get back on to his feet! The man fell off an eight
foot ladder OUT of the ring!
JP: Well, he's in this federation for a reason, and when he really
gets down to it, he can be one of the best. Despite all of his
faults, he really knows how to pull things out of the bag, and he can
certainly hold his own in the ring, even though he can be reluctant
to do so.
Sully: It's not reluctance to wait around and let the opponent get
frustrated, it's common sense and it demonstrates what a good
wrestling brain the man has.
Wayne, especially considering his height, is within reaching
distance of the belt, and, if given a few more seconds, would be able
to grab it if Spade hadn't rolled beneath the ring and upset the
ladder by throwing himself into it crudely, knocking it off balance
and causing it to stagger to the side. As the ladder resettles, Wayne
is a few rungs down due to him descending some in order to keep his
balance using a low centre of gravity. Spade leans against the ropes
before staggering forwards again and shoving the ladder harder. Wayne
skips off it before it falls and stumbles backwards a bit, giving
Spade time to lean back and surge forwards, nailing Wayne with a huge
clothesline that sees both men hit the canvas, Wayne partly landing
on the ladder, which just adds to the pain that he receives.
JP: Oh man!
Sully: Hah! And you never stop whining about how "useless" Spade
is! He is showing his true colours here tonight! He is showing us
just how-
JP: You have already been through this one.
Sully: So? I am pleased! I am so happy because Spade is going to
win this one. Sure, he isn't 100% percent after his tumble out of the
ring, but every match has its setbacks for some reason or other, he
has suffered his, and now he is taking advantage of what is going to
be, I think, a very sunny spell for him!
JP: Well it's hard to argue with the fact that Spade has probably
been on top in this match, but that isn't to say that he has been the
better man. He has also been quite lucky with the landing of Wayne on
to the ladder, which has no doubt cost the challenger some of his
mobility in this match.
Sully: It wasn't luck. He meant to.
JP: If you think he meant to spill Wayne onto that ladder, then
you go ahead and think it. Personally, I believe that the man was
rather fortunate.
Spade pulls himself up onto his knees before standing, out of
breath. He still manages, however, to outstretch his arms, do a
little turn in his step before crying out to the audience something
along the lines of: 'Yeah, baby!'
JP: Can't he do anything without ruining it by celebrating and
rubbing his opponent's faces into it?
Sully: Isn't he entitled to?
Spade turns around and he leans down to grab onto the head of
Wayne, hauling him up to his feet before leaning back and landing
another huge clothesline to the big man that manages to knock him
down. And, instead of going for the title belt that still dangles
above the ring, he would grab onto the arm of Wayne before twisting
it and hooking his leg around the arm and tightening his leg around
it, before slumping back down onto the canvas in a laying position,
causing a lot of pressure to be directed to the weakened shoulder of
his opponent. Wayne cries out in anguish and twitches about on the
canvas, but Spade just tightens the hold.
JP: And this is some good wrestling- some good techniques by the
World Champion. Working on the arm and shoulder of Wayne, making
climbing the ladder even more difficult.
Sully: And that just demonstrates what is wrong with the style of
wrestling that Insane Wayne has. He won't work specific parts of the
body in order to weaken them. He just throws his weight about and
hopes that he does some damage.
JP: I honestly don't know how you can say that. Insane Wayne is
one of the most influential and successful wrestlers that we have in
this business. He's proved himself in so many federations, and he
hasn't been as successful as he has just by 'throwing his weight
about'. He is a tactician, and a very rare gem in the business. He is
methodical, precise, and he's built like a tank.
Spade clenches his legs together and twists at the same time,
wrenching the arm about as Wayne struggles about on the canvas like a
fish out of water. He screams and shouts as Spade clenches his teeth,
tightening the hold and turning about on the mat to create as much
pain for Wayne as possible. 'Wayne!' chants begin amongst the fans
and Spade does his best to blank them out as he tightens the hold-
every time he does so, Wayne cries out in agony and tosses about on
the mat, but he doesn't seem completely helpless as he starts to pull
himself up, arm still held on to by Spade. The chants grow and Wayne,
with clenched teeth, pulls himself up into a kneeling position, Spade
still clinging onto his arm, trying to pull him down, but
unsuccessful in doing so.
JP: And look at the strength of Insane Wayne! Look at the ability!
This is the much-talked-about strength of Wayne, and I don't think
this revival for Wayne is going to do much good for Spade!
After some more struggling, Wayne is on his feet, and the tables
have turned as Wayne now has his hand clamped around the throat of
Spade. Spade looks shocked as he is brought into a standing position
by Wayne. Wayne cries out and, with his uninjured shoulder, lifts
Spade up before powering him down in a huge 'Hell's Bells'! The fans
go crazy and Wayne stumbles backwards against the ropes, crying out
with every breath as he blinks through eyes that are wetted with
tears of agony, his 'bad arm' limp at his side.
JP: He got him! He got him with such a chokeslam! Such a 'Hell's
Bells'! The question now is can he take advantage? Can he climb that
ladder with his one properly functioning arm and take the title?!
Sully: But look! Look how he is favouring that damaged arm! Spade
may have been chokeslamed, but he has done a lot more harm than good
to Wayne by administering that hold!
Spade rolls onto his side, breathless, mouth open as he cries out
in a silent scream of pain. The ladder lays beside Wayne who reaches
out a hand, feeling about to find the metal ladder before hauling
himself to his feet using the ropes, blood still streaming freely
down his face. He would help himself up before working on standing up
the ladder. He would stand it up with his one good arm, but it is a
laborious and timely task. He, however, eventually manages to get it
to a standing position and starts on his ascent once again, Spade
only now showing signs of revival.
JP: And now, Spade is only just recovering. He is only just now
bringing himself up into a standing position while Wayne is well on
his way to grabbing onto the World Title belt and becoming the World
Champion of the MWF!
Wayne climbs up, cradling the arm attached to his injured shoulder
to him as he does. Spade, instead of moving for the ladder, moves for
the turnbuckle and hauls himself up onto it. Wayne does not pay any
attention to this as he tries to co ordinate himself enough to reach
up for the title whilst keeping his balance on the ladder with the
use of only one arm.
Sully: Where's the Ace going?
JP: I don't know, but I think he is counting on Wayne's injured
shoulder to slow up the contender enough for him to have the time
that he needs to pull off what he has planned!
And he is relying on this as he stands on the top of the
turnbuckle, wearily swaying just a little bit but still managing to
retain his balance before bending his legs at the knees and leaping
off the turnbuckle, hitting Wayne right in the kidneys with a huge
drop kick, knocking Wayne off the ladder and sending him crashing
onto the ropes, rebounding back near the middle of the ring as he
hits them. Spade lands on his back, and this still seems to hurt him
as he takes his time getting up. Wayne, however, does not seem to be
going anywhere too fast, as his aching kidneys add to the list of
injuries that he was suffering as a result of this match.
JP: OH MY GOD! He just flew like I haven't ever seen him! He just
landed a dropkick from half way across the ring! He just knocked
Wayne clean off the ladder, and they are back to square one! They are
both hurt and don't show signs of getting that title any time soon!
Sully: Did you see that dare-devil manoeuvre from the World
Champion?! He flew!
JP: Well, it is clear that the World Champion is not one properly
used to landing moves from the turnbuckle, but he just demonstrated
how he is prepared to do anything to retain that title belt!
Needless to say that the first one up with Ace Spade, who holds
onto his side as he stands. He moves over towards the ladder and, in
a very tired and weary manner, begins to start his ascent, although,
some may argue, the ladder was a little bit out of range for the
grab. He would reach for it with an outstretched hand and would
actually grab onto it, holding on with a hand as the fans cheer on
Wayne, who has started to stand up. As Spade snatches at the belt
with the hand that was not holding on to it, he'd accidentally kick
the ladder out from beneath him, and it tips out from beneath him.
Spade grabs onto the belt with both hands now instead of one and
hangs there, kicking his legs. Wayne reaches up and grabs his arms
around his legs, just around the knees. The fans squeal with
excitement as Wayne yanks at him but Spade holds on tight.
Eventually, though, he lets go and both men tumble down hard onto the
canvas, Spade landing in a sort of leg-drop position right across the
face of Wayne! The impact is huge and both men lay out on the canvas.
Wayne, however, looks considerably worse for wear, his nose gushing
blood freely.
JP: Wayne has taken a bad knock, and Ace, who got the better end
of the fall, is making a break for the ladder. He has it now for
sure!
The ladder is propped up by Spade and he makes to climb up it.
Wayne doesn't look like getting up any time soon and Spade appears to
have a clean get away with the titles. That is, of course, until
Doomsday comes running down the ramp. The fans cry out in glee as the
huge man slides beneath the bottom rope and stands up behind Spade.
He grabs onto the back of his trunks and flings him down. Doomsday
shoves the referee aside and grabs Spade roughly to his feet before
kicking him in the midsection and hoisting him up for a powerbomb! He
slams him down with force and Spade lays out flat in the middle of
the ring!
Sully: No way! Get that interfering scum bag out of there!
JP: Doomsday coming to the aid of Insane Wayne
Sully: You can't condone that! You can't possibly condone that
kind of meddling?! Spade had it won, god damn it!
JP: I don't know what to think!
Doomsday is pulled away and out of the ring by the referee and he
gets his marching orders to go up the ramp. The audience chants
Doomsday's name as now, both men in the ring are down and struggling
to regain some kind of composure, the referee standing tall in the
middle of the ring, all ready for somebody just to climb up it. They
both struggle to their feet, Wayne bleeding from the nose and the
forehead, Spade in agony after the huge man's powerbomb. After a
minute or so they both find their feet, standing at either side of
the ring. The fans cheer them on (mainly Wayne, obviously) and Spade
staggers weakly forwards, Wayne ducks under him and gets him up onto
his shoulders. Cameras flicker as Wayne holds onto the World
Champion.
JP: He got him! He got him! Wayne has him!
But, quickly, Spade slides down Wayne's back, turns around and
hits him with a Really, Really Low Blow! (A trademark move of his!)
Wayne cries out and drops onto his knees, giving Spade the
opportunity to bounce off the ropes and hits Wayne in the chest with
a running toe kick, sending Wayne sprawling backwards. Spade stands
wearily and begins to ascend the ladder, pausing on each rung to take
a breath. He looks up, and a smile crosses his face as he sees the
title within his grasp. He reaches, but suddenly, the ladder comes
crashing down! Wayne, not managing to pull himself to his feet in
time, compensated by kicking out the ladder, knocking Spade to the
ground. Insane Wayne drags himself to his feet and approaches a
fallen Ace Spade. Spade himself is lying on his back, dazed, and is
picked up by Wayne. The challenger picks up the Champion in a Scoop
Slam position, and drops him -face first- onto the turnbuckle,
executing a perfect snake eyes manoeuvre. Ace is flung back, right
into the chest of Wayne, and he slowly turns around, to be grabbed by
the throat. The fans scream and Wayne looks around at them, grin on
his face, nodding.
JP: This could be it! This could be all that this match has left!
Wayne takes in a deep breath as he hauls Spade up for another
Hell's Bells! But Spade slides out of his grasp and stumbles
backwards, leaning against the ropes behind him. Wayne, who seems to
be having a second wind, dashes forwards, blood streaming down his
face, but Spade hits the canvas, pulling down the top rope, sending
Wayne flying over it. Spade stumbles onto one knee, moving back
towards the ring, shaking his head in disbelief. The referee shows
some concern for one of the wrestlers for the first time in the match
and leans down to Spade, who can not seem to stand up properly as he
struggles with the ladder. The fans boo and jeer as down the ramp
comes Dom Stoate, the General Manager himself. He sprints down the
ramp, tie flying behind him as he wields a chair and slams it across
the back of Wayne hard while the referee tends to Ace Spade. Stoate
lands another firm shot to Wayne as the fans cry out for Wayne and
his doomed title taking as Stoate drops the chair and moves up the
ramp, the referee still busy with Spade.
JP: And look at that! That damn Dom St-
Sully: You just stop right there! This is certainly no more than
what Doomsday did! Wayne had this coming ever since Doomsday came
down!
JP: But Stoate has had it in for Wayne ever since Insane Wayne
challenged him to that Office Brawl match!
Sully: Wayne deserves everything that he gets!
Spade now seems to make quite a recovery and he hobbles over
towards the ladder and hauls it up to a standing position. The fans'
booing and jeering is deafening as the World Champion straightens the
ladder up, lining it so that it is beneath the title. He begins to
climb up slowly, groaning as he pulls himself up steadily.
JP: This is wrong! It is just crooked, that's what it is!
He reaches out and snags the title belt. As he stands on the
one-from-top ladder rung, he'd pull and tug at the belt before it
comes loose in his arms. He just manages to keep his balance before
taking those last steps down to safety. The bell rings and he
stumbles onto one knee, holding the title belt to him. Stoate moves
down the ramp and into the ring. He supports the World Champion and
beams happily as Spade struggles to stay on his feet.
Peter Santos: And your winner, and still MWF World Champion, Ace
Spade!
JP: Look at this! This isn't right!
Sully: He is still the Champion! Yes! I knew he could do it!
JP: With the assistance of that damn Dom Stoate, that is!
Sully: He did no more than Doomsday! I can't believe you can't
seem to see that!
Stoate, whilst holding onto the wrist of the World Champion yells
down at the fallen Wayne. "You see what I can do?! You see what I can
do to you?!" Wayne still remains outside of the ring, holding his
head.
JP: This is going to have a tremendous backlash. Wayne fought so
hard in that match, and it all came to nothing thanks to our damn
General Manager.
Sully: Well, Wayne had better watch who he messes with.. Stoate is
out General Manager, and he swings a lot of power in this
Federation..
