Tempest
versus
Father John Ramsey
MWF World Heavyweight Championship No1. Contenders Match (Ringside ban,
automatic DQ for interference)
Referee: Charles Galliant
Writer: Steven Avigne
JP: Back in action, we have our main event. Tempest,
Master Plan member and wrestler extraordinaire, will fight Father John Ramsey, a
man who's MWF career has gone in one place, upward. These two will be competing
for the number one contender ship to the World Heavyweight title, held by
current champion Thunder Bull. This is the match before one of these men's
greatest opportunity, an opportunity that neither is willing to give up.
Sully: Right you are, both men will be hell bent on victory, this match is an
extremely important one and both men will do whatever it takes to win.
JP: Everything but invite their friends to the ring, if
anyone interferes, there is an automatic disqualification.
Peter Santos: The following contest is tonight's main event and is for the
World Heavyweight championship's number one contendership. Here is the
stipulation, there is no one except the two wrestler's themselves allowed in or
around the ring. If that rule is violated, there will be an automatic
disqualification! Introducing first, from Boston, Massachusetts, weighing in at
two hundred fifty four pounds, he is a member of the Master Plan, Tempest!
[The leader of "The Master Plan" walks down the ramp to the sounds of David
Bowie's, "Heart's Filthy Lesson" with a confident look in his eyes, but without
his fellow stable members. After arriving to the ring, he stands on the steps,
and slowly crosses into the ring, going to the very end corner awaiting his
foe.]
Peter Santos: And his opponent, from Orlando, Florida, weighing in at one
hundred sixty three pounds, Father John Ramsey!
[As David Bowie's music depletes, organs can be heard as church music rings
throughout the arena. The Japanese bow their heads a bit, in reverence, while
Ramsey walks down the ramp in his robe, with a calm and collected look on his
face. He also takes his time getting to the ring, but when he finally arrives at
his destination he gets into the squared circle the same way his opponent did.
After entering, he looks Tempest dead in the eye while the bell rings, and the
referee declares this match to be started.]
Sully: Get ready for a hellacious match!
JP: Not hellacious, 'heaven'lacious, remember a priest is involved.
Sully: Whatever...
[Father John Ramsey asks for a handshake, but Tempest slaps his hand away. The
two circle each other until meeting in the middle of the ring with a collar
elbow tie up, allowing Father John Ramsey to get Tempest in a headlock before
the leader of the Master Plan throws Ramsey across the ring to the ropes. He
attempts to connect with a right arm clothesline as John returns, but Ramsey
ducks it, goes behind Tempest for his left arm, and jumps on it, forcing both to
the ground with Ramsey locking in an armbar. Referee Charles Galliant checks
Tempest to see if he submits, but the Master Plan leader reaches the rope, and
as he does Ramsey immediately lets the submission go. John gets back to his
feet, then lands kicks to the left arm of Tempest.]
JP: He's trying to weaken the arm to make his submission
finisher more effective!
Sully: He has to, the man has no strength!
JP: But he can make an opponent submit very easily!
[After the slight kicks, he goes to pick Tempest up, however his opponent rakes
the eye of Ramsey, forcing him to wobble backwards to the rope. Charles Galliant
warns Tempest, but the Master Plan captain yells at him to mind his own business
and goes toward Ramsey, shoving him into the corner. He pounds Father John
Ramsey in the midsection with an array of punches, then walks backwards and
looks at the priest before charging at him with a clothesline. Ramsey falls out
of the corner and onto the mat, where Tempest lands a leg drop to the back of
Ramsey s head. He turns John over and goes for the pin, 1...2...kick out by
Ramsey. Tempest heads back to his feet, also grabbing Ramsey to his, picks him
up vertically and puts him to the mat with a scoop slam]
Sully: I usually hear a louder slam after someone is
thrown to the mat with such force.
JP: That is because Ramsey is only a buck sixty.
[Tempest lands an elbow drop onto Father John s rib cage, then pulls Ramsey to
his feet. He Irish whips Ramsey to the ring post, then charging with a flying
body slam, but missing as the priest manages to move out of harm s way. Tempest
smacks his head against the ring post itself, the slowly moves backwards. Ramsey
runs to Tempest, eyeing the opportunity, and brings him down with a school boy
pin, 1...2...kick out by Tempest. Ramsey quickly gets to his feet, then decides
to head over to the second rope. Tempest is getting to his feet, trying to
regain his senses, while John Ramsey balances himself on the second rope. Once
Tempest is in target range, Ramsey lunges at Tempest with a dropkick, knocking
Tempest back to the mat. Father John runs over to Tempest, holding him in a STF
position. Referee Charles Galliant again checks Tempest to see if he can
continue, but because of Ramsey s small stature, Tempest is able to kick his
legs free and knee Ramsey in the gut.]
JP: I believe that, if not for his physical problems,
Ramsey would be practically undefeatable.
Sully: But he still has those problems, so he s out of luck!
[Ramsey s problems continue as Tempest regains his senses and heads to his feet,
picking John up and quickly positioning and throwing him down to the canvas with
a fall away slam. Ramsey holds his back in pain as Tempest quickly gets to his
feet to taunt the crowd. Tempest goes to Ramsey, screaming obscenities about
religion, which seemingly rejuvenates Ramsey, allowing him to grab Tempest s
leg, trip him to the ground, and put him in a half Boston crab, bending as far
backwards as he can in order to apply more pressure. With John Ramsey s back
arched, Tempest howls in pain as he desperately attempts to reach the ropes.
Tempest pulls his hair in frustration in pain, as Charles Galliant continually
checks him for a submission. Tempest realizes what is at stake, and constantly
screams that he refuses to submit. A fire in his eyes keeps him going, knowing
that he may never get the same shot again. With everything he has, he scrapes
his way to the direction of the ropes, leaving scratch marks in the mat. As he
slowly makes his way to the ropes, Ramsey attempts to put even more pressure by
going farther backwards, but goes so far back that he finds himself unbalanced
and falls over, losing his grip of the leg.]
Sully: HA! You can tell that is a move he doesn't t use
often!
JP: Well, he is smaller, and why would someone who is smaller than the other go
for the strongest limb unless he has to?
[Ramsey gets back to his feet, with a hint of rage in his eyes, mixed with
determination. He goes back to Tempest, diving with an elbow to his head and
turning it into a headlock. He grips Tempest s skull tightly, but leaving
Tempest s arm free he is able to grab the hair of Ramsey, before the referee
breaks it up. After the failed attempt, he then tries to hit John Ramsey, and
after an array of quick punches he gets Ramsey free. As we have seen before,
Ramsey is enabled to use more punishing moves, proving it when he grabs Tempest
s head to bring him to his feet, then slamming him back to the ground with a
Russian Leg Sweep. He goes for the pin, 1...2...kick out by Tempest. Immediately
after Ramsey gets back to his feet, bounces off the ropes, then lands on Tempest
s head with a knee drop, then goes for another armbar. Tempest is close to the
ropes this time, so grabs them, but the damage has been done. By this time,
Tempest is very sore from the submissions, but still manages to get to his knees
as Ramsey gets to his feet and walks over to the Master Plan s leader. Tempest
flings Ramsey with a fireman s carry, then grabs his head and puts him in a
headlock submission from the back of the fallen priest.]
JP: Father John Ramsey is now on the receiving end of the
submission, an unfamiliar situation for him!
Sully: He won t give up, it s not in him! But he should...
JP: But he should? That s biased!
Sully: You know me, I m always biased!
[Ramsey s head turns blood red as Tempest tightens his grip, peering to the
crowd and to Ramsey, taunting him to give up. It seems as if Ramsey will not get
a chance to submit; it seems like he will pass out first. Ramsey seemingly goes
out entirely, with Tempest knocking on his head with the other hand checking to
see if anyone is home. The referee tells Tempest to stop, and then grabs Ramsey
s arm and holds it in the air, before it drops suddenly to his lap. Charles
Galliant counts loudly "one", letting everyone know that two more and Tempest
wins. Galliant grabs his arm once more, bringing it to the top of Ramsey s
reach, then letting it free fall back to his lap. The fans begin to cheer for
the religious hero, as the referee again brings Ramsey s arm to it s peak, with
the fans hoping that somehow he will be able to sustain it in the air. The
referee drops the hand, and the crowd goes dead silent, awaiting to see if their
hero can keep his hand in the air. As soon as silent drops, Ramsey s hand does
not, pumping in the air as he attempts to get out of the manoeuvre.]
Sully: He got out! No way did he get out!
JP: Never underestimate Ramsey, he has the power of God on his side!
[Ramsey builds his strength, eventually getting to his knees and then to his
feet, before connecting with punches to the midsection of Tempest. Ramsey forces
Tempest to break the submission, then runs across the ring to the ropes where he
bounces back across and hits Tempest with a flying elbow. He tells Tempest to
arise, then as Tempest does, Ramsey connects with a dropkick. That same array of
moves continues twice more, before a surprisingly rejuvenated priest pushes
Tempest into the ring post. After, John heads to the second rope and puts
Tempest s head in his hand, looks at the crowd, and starts the ten punch. The
crowd goes crazy, counting with him as he goes along, one, two, three, four,
five, six, seven, eight, nine, and with the last punch he kisses his fist and
lands it directly onto the forehead of Tempest. He then jumps down, allowing
Tempest to fall to the mat, then bounce off to land on his back. Ramsey goes to
the second rope and jumps off, landing a body drop onto the fallen Tempest, then
following up with a pin, one...two...almost, but another kick out!]
JP: It looks like Ramsey is on somewhat of a roll!
Sully: Hey, don t count Tempest out, he'll win this, guaranteed!
[Ramsey doesn't t seem bothered by the failed pin attempt, and again gets to his
feet. He takes Tempest by the hair to bring him to his feet, then kicks him in
the gut, putting him in a suplex position, then finishing with a snap suplex.
After hitting the move, Ramsey rolls backwards on top of Tempest and connects
with numerous, legal, punches to the face. After getting his fair share of hits
in, he falls off of the Master Plan s leader and pulls him to the middle of the
ring. Although it takes him a bit, he eventually gets Tempest into the middle of
the ring, and applies a reverse Indian stretch, pulling Tempest s back muscles
to points they were never meant to be pulled. Ramsey tugs hard, making sure
every muscle in Tempest s back is to the point of tearing. After the numerous
submission attempts, Tempest s body seemingly begins to wear down. However, at
no cost is he willing to submit, so as many times the referee checks to see if
he has decided to submit, Tempest continually chooses to stay in the fight.]
Sully: He will not give up!
JP: Tempest is looking for a win tonight and shall not let that victory out of
his grasp!
[Ramsey gets aggravated that the submission fails to put Tempest away, so he
lets him go and gets back to his feet. Suddenly, John Ramsey seems to be
completely flustered, pacing the ring, screaming and throwing his arms a bit. He
seems frustrated that Tempest would not submit, knowing that submissions are his
best chance at victory. Eventually, he stops, takes deep breaths and closes his
eyes, and attempts to regain his composure. As he stands with his eyes shut,
Tempest gets back to his feet and almost decapitates Ramsey with a thunderous
clothesline. Ramsey lays on the mat, dizzy and confused, as Tempest then begins
to pace the ring in frustration. He, however, turns his frustration into anger,
and directs that anger at Ramsey, pulling him by the hair to the middle of the
ring and digging the toe of his boot into the priest s eye. Ramsey struggles
below the large boot as Charles Galliant attempts to get Tempest s foot off.
Tempest removes his foot from Ramsey s face, and instead goes to his knees,
following that with a massive series of punches to John Ramsey s head.]
JP: Tempest has seemingly gone insane!
Sully: He's a mad man, JP, a mad man!
[Tempest stops the punches, with most of his anger vented, and some etched on
Ramsey s forehead. Tempest gets to his feet and picks Ramsey up onto his.
Tempest throws Ramsey over his shoulder like a rag doll, and walks over to the
closest ring post. Father John Ramsey manages to slip off Tempest s shoulder as
they reach the turnbuckle, and falls to the mat. As he falls, he attempts to
pull Tempest down for a sunset flip, but Tempest is able to grab the ropes, then
jumps in the air, bends his knees and lands on top of the fallen Ramsey. Tempest
goes to the turnbuckle again, but only to taunt the crowd, making the crowd go
wild as Tempest relishes in the jeers. The Master Plan s leader gets off the
ropes, then picks Ramsey back up onto his shoulder, sitting him on the top
turnbuckle after. After connecting with a few strikes of the fist to Ramsey s
head, Tempest himself ascends to the top ropes, standing John Ramsey up as he
stands himself. Tempest picks Ramsey up and turns him sideways, grabbing him by
the head a inner leg, then takes a final step to the very top of the ropes.
Immediately following, he snaps backwards with tremendous power, tossing Ramsey
clear across the ring and almost into the opposing ring post. Tempest himself
uses so much force that as he flung Ramsey, he too flew to the mat with immense
force.]
Sully: The whole damn ring shook JP, the whole thing!
JP: I don't know if the ring was meant to sustain that kind of force!
[Charles Galliant rushes over to Ramsey first, who seems to have taken more
punishment from the move. Ramsey is almost out cold, not moving and barely
fluttering his eyes. Galliant debates whether or not to end this match now, but
before making that decision, he decides to check on Tempest first. After looking
at Tempest, it is clear that almost all of the force that came from the move was
inflicted on Tempest s neck, already beginning to bruise mildly. Galliant kneels
down and gives good thought on what to do about the end of the match. He knows
that this match is important and needs a winner desperately, but also realizes
that neither of these men should continue to fight. After a while of thinking,
he heads over to where Peter Santos is sitting. After whispering a few words in
Santos ear, the announcer grabs his microphone.]
Peter Santos: Ladies and gentlemen, referee Charles Galliant has come to the
decision that this match shall continue!
[The crowd cheers wildly as the referee stands back and hopes that one of the
two men will get up soon. Neither men look as if they will move anytime soon,
Ramsey is officially knocked out and Tempest hasn't moved since the manoeuvre.
Galliant calls for the medics to come out, just to help the two continue. One
medic comes with a stretcher, but the referee tells them to leave the apparatus
behind because this is only a check up. Four medics come down, two to Ramsey and
two to Tempest. On Ramsey's side, the medic brings out smelling salt and waves
it in Ramsey s face, making him get a sour look and wake up from his unnatural
slumber. Tempest s medics put a medical patch on his neck, and also giving him
smelling salt too. The smell revives both men immediately, and both begin to
slowly get to their feet. The medics leave, and Galliant seems satisfied with
his decision.]
JP: Charles Galliant made a risky choice there, but it
looks like it may work out for the better.
Sully: Looks like it, may not though!
[Both men struggle to get back on their feet, using the ropes as support but
slipping frequently. The crowd starts to roar, not cheer for either side, just
make noise in hopes of getting the men back to their feet. Neither men show any
signs of quit in their eyes, but then again, both men s eyes are glazed over as
they attempt to regain total memory of what is currently happening.
Painstakingly, the fans wait as the two men, after a long, long while come back
to their feet, using the ropes as much as possible and trying to prop themselves
into the ring post corner. Tempest manages to take a seat on the second
turnbuckle, and rubs his head and eyes before regaining his full motor skill
usage back. Father John Ramsey, however, seems a bit worse for wear, holding
onto the ropes but falling back to the mat, unable to regain his senses as of
yet. Although Tempest knows that he should take advantage of the short time he
has to recuperate, he decides to stay on the attack and walks toward Ramsey.
After getting to Ramsey s head, Tempest goes to his knees, takes the priest s
head in his hands, and bounces it off the mat multiple times, trying to keep
Ramsey dazed and confused.]
JP: That's not fair!
Sully: It's not about what's fair, it's about what it takes to win!
[The referee breaks up Tempest s grip, but as soon as he lets go, Tempest rolls
Ramsey outside to the arena floor. The Master Plan s leader goes outside the
ring himself, grabbing Ramsey by the hair. Charles Galliant begins the ten
count, 1...once Ramsey is standing, Tempest charges into the priest forward to
the barrier, forcing Ramsey s back to buckle against the barrier. 2...Ramsey
screams in pain as Tempest grabs John s arm, tossing him across the barrier into
the ring, and then charging again. 3...Ramsey falls to the mat, very near the
edge of the ring, allowing Tempest to perform a choke with his foot on Ramsey s
throat without Galliant knowing. 4...Ramsey struggles under Tempest s foot,
trying his best to get it off his throat with his hands. 5...Tempest gets cocky
and puts all of his weight on Ramsey s throat, removing his other foot from the
ground, allowing Ramsey to use the lack of leverage to his advantage. 6...Ramsey
rolls, making Tempest fall to the ground. 7...Ramsey keeps hold of the foot,
moving up to the ankle and turning it into an ankle lock.]
Sully: ANKLE LOCK! He's got the deadly submission locked
in!
JP: He's not in the ring, though, so he s out of luck as of now.
[After a while with the submission locked, Ramsey is forced to let go in order
to rest a bit. 8...He goes to the side of the ring, taking a lean on the edge,
trying to get his senses back together. 9...Ramsey rolls into the ring, breaking
the count, then rolls back outside the ring. This time, Ramsey is fully charged,
bringing Tempest to his feet and rolling him into the ring. Not knowing what he
has left, John Ramsey rolls in and goes for a pin instead of performing a
manoeuvre. 1...2...almost, but the dedication and resiliency of Tempest keeps
him in the fight. Ramsey gets back to his feet and brings Tempest to his also,
with Ramsey hooking in an octopus stretch on Tempest in the centre of the ring.
Normally this would not work for Ramsey because of his size, but because of the
injured state Tempest is in, the Master Plan s collaborator can do nothing but
let the move occur. Ramsey grips Tempest tightly, stretching his midsection s
ligaments as far possible. Tempest is in obvious agony, and if close enough you
could actually hear the slight tears.]
JP: I don't know how much Tempest can withstand!
Sully: Like I said before, Tempest will not give up, trust me.
JP: Trust you?!
[Charles Galliant checks Tempest again, but this time it looks as if Tempest is
ready to hang it up. Although he declines submitting the first time he was
asked, he seems to be fading quickly, about to pass out from the pain. Ramsey is
putting everything he has left in this one move; it s now or never, and Tempest
knows it too. Galliant checks Tempest numerous times, each time having Tempest
waving him off, but eventually it gets to the point where Tempest can barely
even move his arm. Tempest almost gives, but Ramsey knows what will happen;
Tempest passes out, Galliant checks him twice and most likely Tempest regains
his composure. Ramsey decides that he wants to make this count, so he quickly
drops Tempest and falls on top of him for the pin. 1...2...kick out?! No...it
couldn't t be...another kick out? Tempest, by an inch of his shoulder, got out
of the pin fall. Ramsey seems baffled, confused, and just wondering what it will
take for him to win. Ramsey grabs Tempest furiously, and lifts him to his feet
again, and tosses him across the ring face forward, making Tempest bounce off
the closest turnbuckle forwards. Tempest nails his head off the top turnbuckle,
then wobbles backwards madly. Ramsey eyes his chance, and goes to lock in his
deadly finishing move, the Cross-Face Chicken Wing. He gets his arm in place,
however Tempest goes to the pits of his soul to reverse the manoeuvre, falling
to the mat on his rear, making Ramsey s chin bounce off Tempest s shoulder.
Ramsey falls backwards in pain as Tempest gets back to his feet. Tempest runs to
Ramsey and hooks in his finisher, the Epicentre, a massive DDT. Before he could
slam Ramsey s head onto the mat, however, the priest gives a solid punch to
Tempest s midsection, forcing him to break the move.]
JP: Both men were so close to finishing this match off!
Sully: TOO close, I don t want this thing to end!
[Ramsey charges at Tempest s torso, driving him back into the ring post. Ramsey
hits Tempest with an array of punches while Tempest is in the corner. Ramsey
puts two feet on the second ropes before hooking in a headlock submission.
Charles Galliant orders for Ramsey to break the hold, but Ramsey bounces off the
ropes, still on top of Tempest with the headlock in. This odd move shows Tempest
standing in the middle of the ring, with Ramsey holding onto his head with a
headlock submission. It seems like Ramsey is pushing a pressure point,
paralyzing Tempest for the time being so that all he is able to do is stand and
allow the move to happen. However, because of the length of the match, both men
were covered with sweat which made Ramsey s paralyzing hold slip off. Tempest
regains his senses immediately, then tosses Ramsey off his head and to the ring
post. The utter force used makes Ramsey bounce off the turnbuckle and right back
into Tempest. The Master Plan s head honcho grips Ramsey s head under his arm,
and sweeps down to the mat with a massive force, connecting with his finishing
move, the Epicentre. Tempest manages to roll on top of Ramsey for the
pin...1....2...3!]
JP: Tempest did it! Tempest is the new number one
contender!
Sully: I told you he would!
Peter Santos: Here is your winner, and number one contender for the Maximum
Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Championship, Tempest!
[Tempest rolls off Ramsey and onto the middle of the mat, taking a breather
while sulking in the feeling of a hard fought victory. Ramsey is thinking about
nothing, he is out cold after the move. The stretcher is brought back out, near
Ramsey s side as referee Charles Galliant helps the medics roll him onto the
slab. As the medics remove Ramsey to the backstage area, David Bowie's "Heart s
Filthy Lesson" rings out proudly in the arena as Tempest attempts to get back on
his feet.]
