"The Perfect One" James Wright

versus

"Phoenix" Sean Harley

Singles Match

Referee: Grant August

Writer: Dom Stoate

JP: Both men have such ego's, I admit, but at least Sean Harley is making some effort to pick himself up and start anew. He is obviously trying to make himself a better person.

Sully: But you can't fault James Wright's wrestling ability!

JP: But whose wrestling ability can you fault here in the MWF? They're all great athletes.

[James Wright, accompanied by his patriotic music, moves down to the ring, Sean Harley already in the ring, waiting for him, leaning against the furthest ropes from where Wright moves. Wright and Harley lock each other in intense glares constantly, their glares never wavering as Wright climbs under the top rope.]

JP: You can feel the intensity between these two. You can feel the passion. These two haven't exactly been long-time rivals, although they have been waiting a long time for this match, and they are going to give this match their all! They both need a win after suffering losses last week!

[James Wright moves his neck from side to side in a pre-match stretch, eyes only now leaving Harley. Harley is pacing around steadily, eyes on Wright. Wright finally turns to Harley and smirks as the bell rings. The fans roar as both men start to edge around each other quickly. They both lunge at each other, hooking into a collar elbow tie-up that James Wright gets the upper hand with, shoving Harley towards the turnbuckle. Harley hits it, but is very quick to get in the first hit, lashing out towards Wright's face as James closes in. James staggers backwards and Harley leans up into a sitting position on the top rope, standing on the second rope. He would leap off, landing a fist to the head of James. James Wright would hit the canvas, cradling his head and crying out in pain as Harley moves to capitalise, grabbing onto Wright's head tightly. Harley would drag Wright along the canvas, who barely keeps his footing. Harley would keep the hold locked in tightly, teeth bared as he keeps Wright at bay with the tight head lock.]

JP: Sean Harley doing very well to keep the Canadian hero at bay with a strict head lock! Can you see Wright getting out of that any time soon? I think not!

Sully: That's where you're wrong!

[And that is true, as Wright begins to pull his head out of the hold, arm of Harley being twisted viciously by James as he escapes. Wright, still with the arm hooked behind his opponent's back, runs Sean straight into the turnbuckle, with only one arm to shield the blow with. The fans sound appalled. Harley hits the turnbuckle full-force, and staggers back, as James Wright darts to the side, and lands a loud, skin-tingling knife edge chop to the chest of Harley, who shuffles forwards a few steps, holding his rapidly-reddening chest. Wright grabs Sean Harley's arm and whips him into the opposite turnbuckle, and runs at him. However, at the last possible second, Harley moves out of the way and shoves Wright into the corner, clubbing him over the back of the head, then starts to pummel this same area.]

JP: Harley seeming to conjure up some of that old flame! Getting rather violent in these opening stages.

Sully: Someone should really stop that man before he hurts James Wright!

[Wright stammers forwards again and Harley grabs him by the waist, hauling him up into a side walk slam, but delivering a back breaker instead. He goes quickly for the cover....12-James Wright gets a shoulder up. Harley stands up, as does Wright. Wright is a little bit sluggish but is up in time to receive a huge chop across the chest. The fans howl in reaction, and again as Harley continues to chop Wright backwards against the ropes. Harley would lean back before running forwards. James Wright would turn the match around, ducking down beneath the running Harley before straightening up and tossing Harley over the top rope. Harley is flung over the top rope and hits the flooring on the outside of the ring hard. The fans sound rather shocked as he is, but Sean picks himself up, holding onto his chest. Wright rolls beneath the bottom rope and goes after Sean who is on one knee at this point. Wright clubs an arm to the back of Harley's neck. Harley cries out and Wright hauls him up to his feet roughly before grabbing onto his arm and hauling him towards the barricade. Harley hits it hard and arches his back in pain. Wright moves after him, grabbing Harley beneath the arms and dropping him onto the barricade's edge. Harley hits it hard and brings his arms up to cradle his chest. The fans start chanting Harley's name and he is dragged up to his feet by James. James drags him towards the ring and puts him beneath the bottom rope, half-laying in the ring before elbowing him hard across the chest. Sean sits up, leaning to the side to avoid sitting right up into the ropes. Sean rolls across the canvas weakly as Wright moves after him. Wright grabs onto his leg and lifts it up before nailing him in the inside of the leg with an elbow before tugging at his leg hard. The fans still chant Harley's name with devotion.]

JP: Harley's name being chanted. A sound I'm sure he could get used to.

Sully: Wright will be feeling lucky that looks can't kill! These fans do not look happy with 'The Perfect One'!

JP: Not a very original nick name, is it? And the man is far from perfect. And on the subject of the fan's participation-

Sully: It isn't about originality; it's about what you do in the ring. It's about what you can accomplish in the ring, and how you wrestle to beat your opponent.

JP: Well, yes. But about the fans, Wright should know as well as anybody that the fans' noise is enough to affect the match. Their cheering and jeering goes a long way in the wrestling business, which is what makes them so important, particularly in this industry.

[Harley is released and Wright turns away from him, arms raised in celebration. Harley turns onto his side, holding onto his ribs as Wright turns back to him and sits Sean up before pulling him up into a standing head lock. He hooks the arm before hitting a decent suplex to Harley before leaning back and hooking the leg....12..Sean Harley gets the shoulder up. James Wright leans back and shakes his head in dismay. He stands up and grabs on to the leg of Harley again. Harley reverses however and shoves him backwards. Wright lands hard on his back and Harley struggles to his feet, leaning on the ropes. He steps forwards as does Wright. Harley ducks down and throws Wright over him, the fans crying out with excitement. Wright picks himself up wearily and Harley hits a monkey-flip! Wright sits up, looking very weary at this point. He would struggle into a standing position as Harley waits behind him. The fans hum with excitement as Wright stumbles, turning around, straight into being hooked up for the Order of the Phoenix ! Wright lands a few elbows to the head of Sean and Sean releases Wright. Harley staggers about before moving straight into a Canadian Connection! Sean hits the canvas and Wright leans against the ropes, breathing heavily and shaking his head a little bit to clear the cobwebs. He moves over towards the nearest turn buckle before hauling himself up wearily. Harley stirs. He eventually makes it to his feet and turns around, straight into the path of Wright who lunges forwards, trying to land The One Shot! (Super kick). Harley ducks it, and comes up the other side, landing a huge neck breaker to Wright! The fans scream as Harley moves for the turnbuckle.]

JP: Harley! Harley almost has it here! What's he doing at the turnbuckle, though? What is he hoping to perform from the top rope that will keep Wright down for the 1-2-3?

Sully: What could he possibly do? He isn't a top-rope man!

JP: He may not be a trademark top-rope man, but he is always willing to improvise! He will be ready to do anything to win this match! To beat James Wright!

[Harley gets to the top rope and pauses for a second. He does not notice, from behind, the General Manager Dom Stoate climbing up onto the apron. He shoved Harley off the turnbuckle, and he lands, hooked over the top rope in a most awkward position. The fans would begin to boo as Stoate hops down off the apron and dusts his hands proudly, watching Wright take advantage.]

JP: What?! What the hell is Stoate doing here?!

Sully: He is getting revenge! Revenge for when that damn Harley put him through that glass sheet!

[Wright takes advantage, staggering over towards Harley before locking him in with the Maple Leaf Sharpshooter, dragging him away from the ropes before locking it in. Stoate leans beneath the bottom rope beside Harley (although Sean is too far from the ropes to grab them.) and screams at Harley who yells in pain. The fans chant for Harley as Wright tightens the hold. Harley struggles for the ropes, reaching out for them. He would manage to hook his fingers around it, just. The majority of the audience sound massively relieved. Wright breaks the hold and, breathing heavily, turns to face Harley who clings on to the ropes dependently. Wright grabs onto his shoulder and pulls on him, trying to pull him away from the ropes. He is successful and Harley is dragged across the ring. Harley lashes out and catches Wright in the face, which sends the Canadian backwards a few steps. Harley turns onto his belly and then his knees, hauling himself up with the assistance of the ropes. Wright recovers and lunges forwards again, lashing out at Harley who manages to duck beneath the lunge and land a spear to Wright, knocking them both to the canvas. Harley moves over for the cover....12Wright kicks out and they both lay on the canvas beside each other for a moment or two before they both, at pretty much the same time, begin to stir.]

JP: And now it's just a question of who can get to their feet first? Who is going to be able to stand first?

[Harley struggles into a kneeling position just before Wright sits up and begins to make it to a standing position. Wright manages to make it to his feet before moving over to Harley who is having trouble finding his feet from his kneeling position. Wright thumps a hand against Harley's head once. Twice. Harley, however, reverses. Bringing a hand to the mid section of Wright that sends 'The Perfect One' stumbling backwards into the ropes. Harley moves back to the ropes behind him. They both stumble towards the centre of the ring wearily. Wright is nailed in the gut by Harley. The fans squeal as Harley hauls him up and hits The Fiery Grave! Wright hits the canvas hard and Harley falls down, going for the cover...There is no count. No count as Stoate distracts the referee from the outside of the ring. Harley kneels up, shaking his head. He moves towards Stoate without Stoate noticing, who is too busy with the referee. Sean delivers a stiff punch to the crown of Stoate. The fans roar as Stoate falls from the apron. Sean turns around, as does the referee, but only to receive a stomp to the midsection from Wright that doubles him up. Wright hooks him up for the Dungeon Drop.]

JP: That damn "General Manager"!

Sully: The Dungeon Drop! James Wright is about to land that move named after his favourite wrestling school, The Dungeon!

JP: He could have it!

Sully: That's in Canada, you know.

[He hooks him for it but Harley reverses, landing on his foot as he is hooked. He turns Wright around before kicking him in the gut, hooking him and landing The Fiery Grave! Stoate is still recovering on the outside of the ring as Harley goes for the cover....123!!]

JP: He's done it.....Sean Harley's not only beaten James Wright here tonight but he's stuck it to the MWF's General Manager at the same time.

Sully: No! Sean Harley's one lucky son of a bitch to come out with a win.

Peter Santos: And your winner, through pinfall, Sean Harley!

[Harley stands up, arms raised in victory as Wright keeps his arms firmly wrapped around himself. Harley's arm is raised by the referee, but he makes tracks towards the edge of the ring, where he takes to screaming over the top rope at Stoate who is making his way up the ramp hurriedly, holding his face.]

Stoate: It's not over, Harley! Not by a long shot! Not over!

[Harley yells something back at him.]

JP: Harley has done it! He won the match despite the interference of Stoate! And that is two losses for James Wright in two weeks! He must not be happy at all!

Sully: He'll bounce back. He always does. You just wait and see.

JP: James Wright's losing the plot, I tell you Sully...he'll be just like all the others, come into the MWF with all guns blazing and then die down and before you know it he's gone.

Sully: Who else has done that?

JP: Fear for one! He came in and ended up going down like a lead balloon.

Sully: I'm too tired to argue with you JP...well after the break folks we'll see the MWF World Champion out here to see whether we will have the MWF World Championship on the line next week.

JP: Doomsday wants Ace Spade to defend his belt...will "The Player" concur?

Sully: It'd be great to see Spade back in the ring again, Doomsday won't be able to cut it against someone like Spade.

JP: We'll see you on the other side of this.
