2002 Champion Unable to Attend 7th Maxwell Classic, Replacement Announced
Bryan Abrano, 2002 Champion
Mike Donaldson, Peacemaker
For Immediate Release: Due to a scheduling problem, Bryan Abrano has been forced to pull out of the 2004 Maxwell Classic. Team Blue Captain Corey Gelormini has selected Mike Donaldson as his replacement. Donaldson, like Gelormini, is a 1995 graduate of Bedford High School. Known more as a versatile and regular participant of the Bedford Football League (BFL), Donaldson has quietly crafted a serious golf game. His quiet demeanor is eerily similar to that of a previous Maxwell Classic participant, Billy Joyce. Blue Captain Corey Gelormini says the Donaldson has survived a tough upbringing on the streets of Bedford to become a positive influence on the community. "Donny was a key factor in the diminished violence between Team Hot Wheels, and the Trojans," two notorious Bedford Gangs. "It was Donny who made everyone realize that both groups could effectively share the McDonald's parking lot, which at the time was heavily disputed turf." No word on whether extra security will be necessary at Sheflin Acres. In a related story, Tournament Directors Andy Katz and Tim Sheflin commented on Abrano's absence in 2004 with a prepared statement. "Bryan Abrano's presence will sorely be missed at this year's event. He has always represented Team Blue admirably, and has been one of the Tournament's finest players. The scheduling conflict that led to his withdrawal was truly unfortunate. We hope that Bryan can wrap up his business engagements in time to catch some of the action and enjoy the post-tournament festivities." Andy Katz & Tim Sheflin Tournament Directors
