This guy was originally meant to be an NCO but the lack of proper rank insignia at the time prevented this. Oh well but I will go back and promote the guy when the time is right  :) The pix of him will update at that time too....

Your basic Waffen SS infantryman as would be found fighting against the Allies in the French countryside, say Caen or so? This fig was inspired by a book called "World War Two Uniforms in Color Photographs". I believe it to be a Windrow and Greene title, but am not sure as of this writing. Rest assured that the book info will be put into the How To section as soon as my scanner get's going! That way I can scan the cover and do other cool thing. Anyway!! Let's talk about this here figure and get on with it shall we?

-Side cap from MDF "Bobby"; painted OD/grey
-21C MP40 pouch repainted tan and detailed
-Cotswold Collectibles leather deluxed braces
-MDF basic belt order but w/21C gasmask cannister ( I hate those 'ribbons' they use for straps!)
and 21C etool w/carrier.
The trousers are from Dragon Models' 'Heinz' SS figure and the tunic comes from Dragon as well. The boots are actually from 21C "Jungle Fighter" set,  but are a great representation of the ubiquitos and universally issued "ankle boot". Not being thouroghly satisfied with the boot/gaiter combination available on the market, I added my own ankle puttees here from strips cut from an M16 cloth ammo bandoleer. The material seemed the right weave and color so that's what got nominated! I like the look of this figure as he has that seriously dedicated look typfied by the recruiting propaganda posters used by the Waffen SS during the pre-war and war years; "Grosse" from the MDF Tankhunters set. Oh yeah the MP40 submachine gun is by MDF.
