| Later all of the kids were up and about. Max called them all into the living room after they had finished their breakfast. The kids glanced at each other worriedly, they saw from the looks on the adults faces that something was wrong. What scared them even more was that Alex2 was uncharacteristically quiet. The usual hyper and bubbly boy who never ran out of things to say was silent. //Here we go// Max thought heavily. //Just relax and breathe honey. It's gonna be fine.// Liz soothed him. Max looked at her and gave her a unshaky smile. //Maxwell Evans you relax right now or I'm gonna kick your ass!// Max looked at her in shock. She never spoke to him that way. Liz laughed and walked over to him. //I was kidding honey don't worry.// Max relaxed and kissed her on the forehead //Where'd that come from?// he thought to her with a mixture of suprise and amusement. //You gave me no other choice// Liz thought to him seriously. Then they both burst out laughing making everyone in the room give them a strange look. They stifled their laughter and Liz went to sit down in the armchair while Max stayed standing before all the kids and the adults. Claudia, Parker and Mark were seated on the couch. Jackie sat on Claudia's lap. Matt and Mason were seated on the floor with their backs resting against the couch. Alex2 was seated in the armchair opposite Liz. Micheal and Maria leaned against the wall behind the couch. Isabel had grabbed a chair from the kitchen and was seated next to Liz. Max looked around at the all the worried faces. And began. "Guys, we have a guest named Mr. Whitman. He's an old friend of the family and he will be staying in the guest room..." "Dad we can't have anybody staying here... what about our" he lowered his voice "powers?" Parker interrupted. "He knows about that and we can trust him, it's okay. Now nobody is to go into the guest room. Mr. Whitman had a long trip and he's very tired so you are not to disturb him. If anybody bothers him, you'll be in BIG trouble. Got it?" Yea's were heard from all the kids. "Alright that's all I needed to tell you. Go and do... whatever it is you were going to do." Jackie leaped up and started singing "We haf a guess, we haf a guess." Max chuckled and hugged her before she went upstairs. The rest of the boys went outside whispering excidetedly about the stranger staying in the house. The only one left was Claudia. "Claudia is there something wro..." Max was interrupted. Claudia stood up abruptly. "Tell me the truth Dad. What's going on?" she demanded. |
