Hurmon Hamilton

Rev. Hurmon E. Hamilton, Jr. was born in San Francisco, California and raised in Coushatta, Louisiana. He attended Grambling State University (GSU) where he was elected as Student Body President, and became the first Student Body President from GSU to be elected to the Louisiana Board of State Colleges and Universities. In 1987, he graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy and History. On this occasion, he became the first GSU student to be invited to bring the Commencement Address for his graduating class. In 1990, Rev. Hamilton graduated with a Masters of Divinity Degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary. From 1990 to 1994, he served as Pastor of the Faith Presbyterian Church USA, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. During this time, he also served as an Adjunct Professor in History, Philosophy and Western Humanities at the University of Arkansas in Pine Bluff.

Rev. Hurmon Hamilton has served as the Senior Pastor of Roxbury Presbyterian Church USA (RPC), in Boston, Massachusetts since May 1994. In 1996, he became the founding leader of the Roxbury Presbyterian Church Social Impact Center, Inc. and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board. Through this center, RPC seeks to transform the power of the Christian faith into a tool for social transformation through educational, technological and counseling programs aimed at strengthening families.
