Doris Carson

Doris Carson, RN is an Elder at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Joplin, Missouri. Doris was the first African - American registered nurse in Joplin. In 1974, Doris attended the Kansas University Medical Center and became the first Family Nurse Practioner in Joplin and worked in that capacity until retirement. In 1994, she volunteered at the Community Clinic of Joplin through Americorp. She progressed from volunteer to part-time staff to full ltime staff at the clinic. In 2001, after attending the Missouri School of Religion in Jefferson City, MO, Doris became an Ordained Parish Nurse. She is currently the Ordained Parish Nurse at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Joplin, Missouri.
