Voice of dissent formed from the embers of a four piece pub/punk band that started playing live back in 1995. Since that time, nothing has stayed the same, including the name.

Voice of Dissent hail form the unlikely city of Geelong in Victoria, Australia and are one of the few original bands to emerge from the region who musical style isnt the outcome of overdosing on surf/pub rock and lethargy. Instead they stay true to themselves, with their own brand of intense hardcore incorporating old school and new school hardcore ethics that whilst very Australian, wouldn't be out of place in the American or Swedish hardcore scenes. Each individual member attributes a broad cross-section of personal influences including bands such as Toe To Toe, Raised Fist, Strife, 59 Times The Pain, Shai Hulud, Breach, The Exploited, Nine, Turbonegro, Refused, Avail, Sick Of It All, Mindsnare, The locust, DropKick Murphies, Mid Youth Crisis, Bane, ect. You get the idea?... They see a world were interaction and expression is ruled by personal politics, where people speak words that want to be heard rather than said and where the mind is not spoken for fear of repercussion. It's clear that a voice of dissent is needed.




During their exsistence, Voice Of Dissent have had several major line up changes and now believe that they have found a line-up that has allowed them to pursue their own particular style. This is a style that by no means can be attributed to any one major influence.
But rather an amalgam of 5 very individual attitudes, beliefs and perspective's that come together to create in-your-face hardcore that explodes in a powerful, energy overdosed live show. In the past 3 years they have supported international bands such as; 59 Times The Pain, Strife, Propagandhi, DropKick Murphies, Mxpx, Unsane, Fugazi, Guttermouth, One King Down, and Shut Down
