Day Of Contempt-From Adeliade

Day of Contempt lies in the depths of the metal, hardcore crossover. The Adelaide, Australia based band dominates through an onslaught of throat-shredding vocals and heavy, abrasive guitars, reinforced by smashed out, beats. Day of Contempt contrasts their aggressive, groove-laden assault, with hints of melody. Their influences range from Carcass, Skinlab and Machine Head, to Merauder, Another Victim and One King Down. Day of Contempt emerged at the beginning of 1998. After releasing 2 demos, mid 1999 saw Day of Contempt establish a line up solid enough to record for a CD and to pursue an increased rate of touring. Their debut EP Where Shadows Lie was released on Trial and Error in Australia and on Voice of Life in Europe/USA.

More recently they have appeared on compilations, Punk Stars, Up Yours and While the City Sleeps Since their inception they have supported Vision of Disorder, and 59 x The Pain along with a host of others both locally and interstate. Day of Contempt performed in Sydney and Newcastle with some of Australias finest hardcore acts at the Hardcore 2000 shows before being intensely received for three shows in Auckland, New Zealand during August, and then returning to Melbourne for Abramelins CD launch. In 2001, Day of Contempt have been overpowering stages at Adelaides Big Day Out and OBall festivals, and most recently across the eastern coast on the One King Down (USA), Mindsnare tour. With most of the members having played in previous projects together, half of the bands roots are in hardcore and the other half in grind and the fusion has created the musical style embodied by Day of Contempt. While members hold beliefs regarding Vegetarian/Veganism and Straightedge, as a whole they are not veganstraightedge, and lyrically they dont directly confront these issues. Instead they concentrate on withstanding the evils in the world to maintain one's own beliefs, whatever they may be.
