Dear Surfers,
Hello
again! By now, you would be reading my
Version 2.0. This time, I am getting more personal about myself. I have
added in the face behind that Dragon Baby's smile and what I have learnt
and concluded from experiences. I am holding on to my first job after graduation.
Still working as a temp staff in the building outside the 24-HR Coffee
Shop. Being around with the kids is the only reason which keep me to where
I am. Their faces potray the innocent. The way they look at me with that
missing front tooth is enough to turn my frowns to smiles. But I have to
move on and find something more like a career. I have never imagine myself
to be a corporate lady. Spending time with my family is more important
than chasing the corporate title. I just wanna lead a simple life.....
As
simple as spending my Saturday afternoon in Borders, reading the final
chapter of King's best selling story of the death-row block at Cold-Mountain
Correctional Facility, called ' The Green
Mile ' . The trip to the electric chair is
called " walking the mile " and the floor leading to the electric chair
is made of green
tiles. I am a tough
one to please when it comes to movies or books. I like this book.
YES, it is seriously A MUST READ! And NO, I did not get any commission
from King to promote ' The Green Mile '. Who needs me to do the marketing
for him when the book has become another of his #1 bestsellers. I
saw my reflection in the eyes of Mrs Janet Edgecombe. The determine and
supportive woman behind her man and the story. But what get me connected
to the book is John Coffey. The gentle giant with a simple mind. Yet, he
is being misunderstood by the society. The society had seen Coffey held
the dead girls, hence they concluded him to be the murderer. I used to
think that actions speak louder than words. But now, I feel that
both action and words have the same importance before someone make a conclusion
on what he sees. To me, actions and words should be complementary to each
other.
Like
Coffey. I am amazed easily by simple things in life. To watch the sky dissolving
its colour from purple to violet to blue cause amazement to me. To stop
and smell the flowers after being wet by the morning dew is enough to keep
my feet off the ground. Those stars-like diamonds twinkling in the pitch
dark sky can simply dazzle the night. At times, my close friend and
I would sit silently looking at the stars, each of us drowned in our own
thoughts. I could have sat there for hours...with that look of sumblime
unthinkable happiness to be away from the earthly bounded troubles.
S.King mentioned that " Life is a capricious
business " And I would like to add...." but
after all, Life is beautiful ". No doubt life
is risky. We ran the risk of being deceived by empty promises made
to be broken. We even ran the risk of not waking up the next morning
as we go to bed each night. Despite it all, its the simple things which
we always take for granted which gives life its beauty. Nature is
one. To be surrounded by people who cares for us despite all odds
is another. It is amazing (at least to me) how two people
from different ' lifestyles ' could have tolerated each other for so long.
It must have been the common acceptance of each other's faults and differences
to be the bond which binded them. It has been 4 years now and I am
stil amazed by it :).
Sad
to say, most people don't believe anymore in sustaining peace. The
world is filled with deceit. Innocent is lost. Status and wealth seems
to be the priority. Sincerity is doubted. There is not much to loose
by placing one's faith in other's sincerity. To live to the fullest is
to dare and face up to the risks from the decisions we made.
Unlike
Coffey I am continuing with my life. As and when time allows, I will update
my homepage. Thanks to those whom have contributed their poems in my Guest
Book. In the mean time, do take care and please be good to one another...
