| Welcome to our caviary.. We are based near Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire and as you can see we have a reasonably large brick built caviary which we feel is ideal as we manage to keep it nice and cool in the summer, it's fully ventilated, heated and vermin protected and has washable floors, so everything stays lovely and clean, the piggies even have their own fridge!. Currently we house around 30 (ish) cavies which we feel is managable and this means that all of our little "mavericks" get the individual daily attention they all so deserve. we have recently introduced a nursery area and we will be uploading the pictures very soon. |

All of our hutches have been purpose built from strong untreated timber to our requirements giving each "piggy" the maximum space possible, we believe that our piggies not only enjoy the extra space to move around but that it is so important for their health and temprements. We always try to incourage our sows to live in pairs or trios where ever possible as again we like them to have as natural and as life like an enviroment as possible, we feel by doing this the sows seam much happier in them selfs and enjoy helping with each others babies, the perfect set up!. the inside of our hutches are treated with a safe water resisitant coating, that allows for easier cleaning and off course keeps the wood from rotting and each hutch also has its own galvanised hay rack fitted which we feel really helps to keep the hay and timothy grass fresh and less soiled. |

In our caviary we always use soft chopped straw as bedding on top of safe printed newspaper (see picture to the right), infact we stopped using wood shavings a while ago now as we felt that it was very dusty and sharp, we firmly believe that wood shavings contribute towards many upper respotary complaints that pet owners experience plus if eaten the sharp wood can cause severe throat abcesses as well. so please really consider other bedding options before opting for shavings, there's many good alternatives on the market now including paper based products so its really worth looking around and trying a few samples. |
