Eventually, Garma and his units discovered him and were killed in the process. Sigma was sent to take care of Zero. If Zero's energy crystal didn't flash with a W, then he would have one the battle. Sigma ordered the Hunters outside to take him to Dr. Cain to be studied. After that, Zero didn't go Maverick. Zero became the leader of the Hunters, but was soon destroyed himself in an attempt to defeat Vile. Later, X and Dr. Cain revived him. Zero stayed alive and well until the fifth match with Sigma, which is when he was shot down. Later, Dr. Wily and Sigma recreated Zero for the purposes of creating a world for Reploids alone. Or so Sigma thought. Dr. Wily really created him for his rivalry with Dr. Light, who created X. Thus, Zero's soul purpose was to destroy X. He has somehow managed to compress the virus inside him once again, and fights alongside the hunters. he feels he has ties to the mysterious wanderer Nexus.
