Love Hina
"They say that if two people who love each other get into Tokyo U. together, that they will stay together forever. Promise me that we'll go to Tokyo U. together, ok?"
Love Hina is the story of Keitaro Urashima, a 19 year old student who is trying to live up to a promise of fifteen years to a girl he does not remember.. After failing the entrance exam twice, and realizing what a drain it is on both him and his parents, he decideds to see if he can stay at his grandmothers Inn in Hinata and help out there while studying for a third attempt. However, upon arriving at the Hinata Inn he discovers that it is now a girls dormatory.

Extreme comedy insues as Keitaro ends up taking over for his grandma as the landlord while she goes on a trip to see the world. The first person he meets is a girl named Naru Narusegawa, who is a bit of a book worm. Naru immediately takes a dis-liking to Keitaro, and proceeds to beat him up over his own clumsiness. As the story goes on we meet Kaolla Su, or more simply know to her friends as Su, a forign exchange student who takes an immediate liking to Keitaro, or rather a liking to torturing him with her inventions.

Along with Mitsune Konno, known to her friends as Kitsune, who seems to like putting him in awkward situations; Shinobu Maehara, a 13 year old girl who's parents have divorced and her implicable cooking skills; Motoko Aoyama, an extremely talented swordswoman, who can be frequently seen chasing Keitaro with her sword in hand; and Mutsumi Otohime, a girl from Keitaro's past, who seems to be his mirror female double (except for the fact that she suffers from fainting spell at the worst times);  the group from Hinata have many adventures ranging from battling a giant robot turtle to discovering lost ruins. Meanwhile Keitaro's aunt, Haruka Urashima, is left at the Inn while the others are off having fun.

While performing his duties as landlord (cleaning, collecting rent, etc.) Keitaro is faced with getting a job to make ends meet. He is hired by a man named Seta Noriyasu to help him with his excavation work (which most of the time means that Keitaro is watching after Seta's daughter Sarah McDougal), not to give anything away, but Seta also played a role in the past of one or two of the other characters.

Somewhere along the way, Naru realizes that she has feelings for Keitaro but, of course, being the strong willed woman she is, she can never admit to the others or him that the feelings exist. Meanwhile, Keitaro is constaqtnly trying to work up the courage to tell Naru of his feelings toward her, but as usual, always ends up tripping over his own feet and getting the snot beat out of himself by at least one of the girls.

Love Hina is a truly magical romantic-comidey of an anime series. The animation for this series, surprisingly was done completely on a computer and is extremely well done. I fell in "love" with this series, in fact, a friend of mine got angry with me because I was apparently trying to burnout his DVD player by watching repeatedly.

I should add also that after the series ended, there were two specials made for the series, the first of which is the Love Hina: Christmas Special, which takes place during this past millennial christmas, during which it is said that if you confess your love at midnighton Christmas Eve, you and the one you confess to will be together forever. Of course we can pretty much guess what happens...

Love Hina: Christmas Special is followed by Love Hina: Spring Special. It's finally time to try again to get into Tokyo U. and the trio of Ronins set out for the exam. After the test, Keitaro is no where to be found, just a note left in his place telling everyone not to look for him. This results in Naru leaving to search for him, followed by the rest of the gang, but will they find out if they've made it?

Following the Spring Special is an OVA (Original Video Animation) called Love Hina Again. The story for LHA  more or less follows Naru. After the trio starts their college  lives, tragedy strikes again and Keitaro is forced to return home and speak with his parents about why it took him so long to get in. Meanwhile a mysterious young woman appears and takes over the position of landlord, the girls loyalty to Keitaro is pushed to its limits, especially Naru''s loyalty who takes his absence the hardest. Eventually Keitaro returns with a gift for Naru (que mysterious music here), however, the new landlord may have other plans....
