A Sad Story

We  heard the warning.
We got the progress reports.
The news is now final.
Barb Allen has a new job in Atlanta.

Barb will be starting her new job July 12th

While we're all sad to see Barb and Oak leave our running group, the new job is one that she really wanted.  So for that, we are happy for her.  Oak is looking forward to the tennis prospects.

But still, they will be missed.  A big part of our running group is leaving.  Those of us that are left are going to need to get busy and recruit some new 5:30 AM runners. Let's see, for recruiters, that just  leaves Jackie and Dianna Higgins, Ed Knouse, and Dan Mueller.  Maybe we could start with past Maumelle runners Kathy Wheeler, Steven Cain, Bill Moore, Mike Shull, Andy Nixon, and Wayne Shearon.  Even Ed Linck is becoming a stranger.  Andy talks about running with us.  Occasionally I see emails from Steven and Bill, so I know they're alive.  I heard from Chuck Kidd, that Mike is training again, only with the Pike's Peak group, but thats probably better for him due to his  location and schedule. Ed Linck also lives on the other side of the river.  That other 97 per cent of the population that doesn't run or workout is winning the war.

Some things we can offer new runners:
1. Low membership costs - It's free.
2. Get their name published in our running log.
3. Have the Club photographer (Leaves Dianna, with
Barb leaving) take their picture for the Web Site.
4. If they want, they can be the Maumelle Running
   Club Web Master.
5. Name a route after them.  Keep up with Dan on
Wednesdays, and we'll rename the route after them.
6. Publish their birthday.
