At the 8:00 AM start it was a windy 44 degrees and just a little chilly. Before the race was complete it would warm to 70 degrees. A beautiful day, but just a little too much wind and a little too warm at the end. The gun sounded, and about 40 seconds later, we started moving forward. Like all marathons, for the first mile or two, you've got to watch for other runners cutting in too close. Maybe they're the ones you'll pass later.

This was the only downhill I remember, although I'm sure there were others. Don't quote me, but isn't that Kathy Wheeler, Ed Linck, and Ed Knouse running together? This was close to mile 13 and this downhill, N. Lookout was a welcome reprieve from the Kavanaugh Rd Uphill we had just finished.

Picture on left is Dianna Higgins and on the right is Jackie Higgins in the yellow shirt. Both finished the LR Half Marathon with great times. They passed me at about the 6-7 mile mark. How do you like those red shades Jackie is wearing?
Pictures below are of Fred Aldridge. Fred also passed me at about mile 6. Fred has been known to run with us some, although it's been awhile. When he has ran with us, he wasn't really running with us, he's just that fast.

Pictures below are of Ed Knouse, that's me. This was my third marathon, and it was my toughest. Little Rock is a rugged course. If you were trying to qualify for the Boston, pick an easier marathon. Not that I'm qualifying for the Boston, I'd have to cut 1 hr. 15 min. off my best time.
