| Maulstrom was formed in the summer of 2001 by Richard Dunlavy, Clint Williams, Darryl Oehmsen, Brian Bell, and Mike Maacks. Richard, Clint, and Darryl came from a band called Collaboratica which was more or less a comedy/rock band. Mike and Brian joined when they left the new-age punk band, The Harlans. "Maulstrom" was the name selected simply because "Maelstrom" was taken. For a while the band was a force to be reckoned with. Maulstrom produced a few bad-ass songs with Mike and Brian, until the two Ex-Harlan boys had a similar falling out. Mike and Brian left the band for undisclosed reasons. Maulstrom, without drummer, chose to further their legacy rather than be discouraged. They formed Acousticide, an all-out Acoustic assault. Acousticide was formed for two reasons. One is so the guys could keep up there live feel, being able to play smaller local venues. Two, is simpler, to promote the hell out of Maulstrom and find a damn drummer. As of right now, . Maulstrom is still without a drummer. |
