Uruk-hai are Orcs that have been bred to perfection. These Orcs do not have the sensitivity to light that their cousins have, and they are tougher, stronger, and faster. They are also better at obeying set commands and have a natural intimidation even greater than regular Orcs. For other information, see MM 146.

COMBAT

Uruk-hai are familiar with many different types of weapons, caring most about how effective they will be using that weapon in combat. They prefer weapons that are easy to handle over ones that do a lot of damage, though both are greatly preferred. Unlike their cousins, Uruk-hai don't use stealthy tactics. They love a straight fight, no matter the odds. As with Orcs, they obey the rules of war, if it is convenient for them.

URUK-HAI CHARACTERS An Uruk-hais favored class is Barbarian or Fighter, and Uruk-hai leaders are always one, the other, or both. If an Uruk-hai is both, the higher class does not count for XP penalties. Uruk-hai Clerics worship Grummsh (favored weapon: any spear) and can choose two of the following domains: Chaos, Evil, Strength, and War. Uruk-hai spellcasters, however, are very rare. Arcane casters use only those spells that deal damage or that maim and disfigure their enemies. High level Uruk-hai will take the prestige class Orc Grunt as soon as possible.
