Our Favorite place to travel is Maui, Hawaii.
Maui is known as the Valley Island.
When you have been to Maui, you have been to Paradise.

When you arrive at Kahului Airport you can take
a taxi to your condo.
If you have booked a rental car, the
agencies Van will pick you up.
You can drive to your condo and you will have
your car to tour around the island at your conveniance.
For a short stay we found it was nice to have a car.

We liked the Kihei area and found it
to be a wonderful part of the island.
It is warm and sunny most of the time.
There are some nice small beaches.

When we stayed in North Kihei we needed
a car for any major grocery shopping.
There is a nice long sandy beach,
were you can walk all the way to Maalaea.
If you like to walk on the beach like
I do, this is a nice place to stay.
At the Maalaea harbour they offer
whale watching tours in the winter.

Lahaina is a tourist town.
On Friday nights you can stroll from one gallery
to the next to look at the different artist painting's.
Lahaina has a small boat harbour.
We took day trips to the islands of Molokai and Lanai.
Lahaina has a very enjoyable luau.

Kaanapali has a lot of condos.
The beach has soft warm sand were your feet sink.
There is a walkway from one resort to another.
Whaler's Village has some fancy restaurants and shops.

Napili is a nice little place to stay.
Napili Bay is a beautiful bay with a nice soft sandy beach.
There are spectacular sunsets at this beach.
There is grocery shopping and restaurants in the area.

A good but expensive seafood place is Mama's Fish house.
Go there for lunch because the evening meal is usually booked.
This is where some movie stars eat.

Everybody should go to Hana at least once.
The Hana Highway is a winding road,
but has nice scenery for picture taking.
In the town of Hana, we woke up to a howling
wind in the wee hours of the morning.
We thought we could have been blown away, it was so windy.
When your in Hana don't forget to hike up the hill to see Fagan's Cross.

When you are ready to leave Hana, go on farther to Charles Lindbergh's Grave.
It was beside a little old church with some sleeping guard dogs.

According to the car rental company you are
not supposed to drive your car any farther.
If you decide to go through it is a dry part of the island.
Do not try this in the rainy season.
The Ulupalakua Ranch is one of the most beautiful places on the island.
One side of the road you have the slopes of Mt. Haleakula.
The other side you can look over and down to the blue Pacific Ocean.

Helicopter Ride The slopes of Mt. Haleakala grow some beautiful flowers.
We enjoyed touring the Protea Farm.
The neatest thing to do in Maui is to drive to the top of Mt. Haleakula.
There is a charge to enter the Haleakula National Park.
Upon entering the Park you will see a sign to turn on
your headlights when you are driving through the clouds.

On the summit, 10,023 ft, you can see the tops of two
volcanoes on the big island of Hawaii a hundred miles away.
You can explore a little of the crater.
The crater floor slopes down 3200ft, below the craters rim.
It feels like you are on the moon.

A good way to see the crater is to take a helicopter tour.
We saw not only the crater but beautiful green
mountains with a lot of waterfalls.
This is some of the things we experienced on our trips to Maui.

Update 2006
In January we cruised to the Hawaiian Islands and French Polynesia.
When we were on Maui we got to see the Aquarium.

It was pretty cool to see Rays, Sharks and a variety
of fish swimming over your head.
Maybe we'll see you in Maui.
