This is the creation history for the largest model in my miniature collection. The Tarrasque is arguably the largest creature in the Monster Manual and a key opponent in the Now Complete Karalon Campaign. It was sculpted from scratch by my fiancée Amanda. It started innocently enough, just some coat hangers and some sculpey
Here we are further along, the shell and first edition spikes are there along with some awesome feet Starting around this time we began having trouble with the sculpey being to brittle, many items were breaking off, thus we began revising with green stuff hereafter.
It's hard work and we need to kick back from time to time
Facial details going in here we can see the beginnings of the soon to be extensive use of green stuff used for durability and detail.
Here's how the project as it sat in September 2005
And here is the final beast completed November 2005. I took over from Mandy ,painting it with a brush with Citadel paints and employing a speckling technique to get tiny little spots all across the skin. Overall the painting was pretty straight forward.
January 2007 Update: Amanda, who I’m very pleased to say is now my wife presented me with a new colossal model for Christmas, a great wyrm red dragon. Although the dragon somewhat dwarfs the Tarrasque model I’m still tickled pink with the months of work Mandy put into the great green bruiser
