Welcome

Intro & Background

My name is Matthew Obrigewitsch, I was born on July 3rd, 1984, and I live in Canada.

So far, I'm enjoying living in Canada. For the most part it's a really cool country. I've lived here all my life, with the exception of a few trips to the US of A and Europe (France, Italy & Greece.) I was born in Regina, the capital city of Saskatchewan, the province where I live. I lived in the town of Craik for 6 years, and on a farm outside of Craik since June of 1990 until the fall of 2002, when I moved to Regina to study computer science at the Universtiy of Regina.

My family consists of my parents, Rod and Patti, my older sister Theresa and my younger brother, Curtis. My niece, Jaden Elizabeth, was born in Moose Jaw on September 6th of 2000 to my sister, Theresa and her husband, Jeff, who were married in June of that year. They had a second child, Amethyst Rose, who was born in OCtober of 2002.

School

I went to school in Craik for 13 years!! Kindergarten all the way up to Grade 12. Here's a pic of my graduating class. Isn't that really small? Of the 8 of us, 6 have been going to Craik since Kindergarten (the three on the left, and the three on the right. Hmm never noticed that little seating arangement before.

Currently, I'm studying at the University of Regina. I'm planning on completing a cooperative dgree in Computer Science, should be done in the summer of 2007. *Sigh* That seems like such a long way off.

Cadets

I was in the Air Cadet program from the fall of 1996 until 2002 with 553 Sherlock Squadron in Davidson, SK. During that time, I went to Aircrew Survival (97.02 Arrow Flight), Introduction to Leadership (98.02 Liberator Flight), Rifle Coach (99.01, Sniper Flight), Gliding Scholarship (2000, Bandit Flight), Flying Scholarship (2001, St. Andrew's MB) and the International Air Cadet Exchange (2002, United Kingdom, Party B). IACE rocked!! The highest rank I ever attained was Warrant Officer 2nd Class, but I did win the Legion Medal of Excellence and the Lord Strathcona Medal during my cadet career. I've also managed to rack up an impressive amount of flying time and winch experience at the Moose Jaw Gliding Center.

Me, in New York, with an SGS-2-32 glider. The factory where it was built is in the background.

Other stuff

Between cadets, school and flying, I don't have a lot of free time. I waste a lot of that on the internet.

Fave's

My fav movies of all time include: Top Gun, Matrix, Fight Club, Clerks, Chasing Amy, The Boondock Saints and Dogma. I'll listen to most any type of music, and my tastes vary too often to list anything here.
