We hit the water today with the purpose of prefishing for the first tournament of the season which is tomorrow. It was partly cloudy and temperatures were in the high 20's at the start and rose into the 30's by mid day. The real issue was the wind. Steady 20 mph winds with gusts into the 30 mph range made boat control difficult and combined with the chill would sting the face and hands. Despite the weather the fish were cooperating. We jumped spots several times during the morning looking for active fish and ended up far below the dam.
Prefishing went well. We ended up with around 15 fish which averaged 18 inches. Five fish came home and will end up as fillets for the coworker who covers my vacation. We located some nice fish and have a better plan for tomorrow. Hopefully my next post will be about a good tournament finish!
