I Want to Fly?
By MRW, 16 June 2005

Who am I?
A question always on my mind.
What's the grand design?
Shouldn't humans fly?
But then we'd forget
to stay grounded.
And drift off into a sunset.
Thinking we were unbounded.
So I am a creature without flight.
But it does not mean I can not soar.
Down a path that's right.
Guided by what's gone before.
But it only takes a false step
to lead one a stray.
And before long, I've forgotten the way.
So far off course....
Wrong decisions become remorse.
When lost, it is so easy to stay hidden.
Soon, I forget of the path.
And that beacon only makes me blind.
Deeper and farther I go, into the forbidden.
Thinking I am suffering God's wrath.
Here is somewhere no one will find.
My journey started with one wrong step.
So why would I want to fly?
