Special Photos

Strong BAD City
For all the Homestarrunner.com fans, I figured out where Strong Bad lives!

Bear is a big boy
And this shows just how a big a boy Bear actually is!

Beer Fridge
This Anna's doing!! This is Glenn and Anna's special beverage fridge, and she painted this on it. It looks even better in person!

Kenrick on John Muir trail
My Brother Kenrick hiking on the John Muir trail September 2007.

Gwen at belay
A picture taken by me while climbing the "whale's tail" in Eldorado Canyon in 2001... Awesome climbing at that place! And just so you know, that's not my climbing partner in the white helmet....that's another party that really didn't know anything about "wall etiquette"....My partner is belaying me down towards the bottom, if you have a good eye, you might see a bit of red and black spot...almost the center of the photo.

Me in Big Ditch
One of my favorite places to hike is the Big Ditch, aka, Grand Canyon. This is me in Spring 2002 just as we went over the rim...This is the trail coming in Indian Hollow on the North Rim.

Me at the Pacific Ocean
Oh the ocean! This is me standing at Huntington Beach, California! A rare day, for it was COLD that day. I thought being a Kansas boy, I could handle the cold of both the water and the day...but nope! I got in to my waist, and that was enough! And I thought California was warm and sunny.....Notice there's not a soul on the beach, and no surfers....

Me Rappelling into Narrows
I love climbing, I love the Big Ditch, so climbing in the Big Ditch just makes sense! Here I'm rappelling into the Narrows at the end of Deer Creek in 1998. I was hoping to go where no man has gone before....nope. Found a rappel anchor from the ledge I'm trying to land on to drop down farther. Oh well...guess man's been everywhere....

Me Showing Off the Ghosts
In the Grand Canyon, there are many, many paintings. Most are hand prints and simple stuff like that, but these "ghosts" are just strange. One thing the picture doesn't show is that the rock is overhanging. This view is like tilting the top a picture towards you about 30 degrees to view it. Looking up from where I'm standing, these images appear much bigger. There is NO way to hang from a rope to paint them. Probably could set up a ladder and do it. Someone suggested the "brush" was attached to a stick. Just the "locals" playing around, right?.....?

Four of us at Castle Rock
Above is 4 of us on a ledge most of the way up the "tower" at Castle Rock, Kansas. Don't worry, we're all tied into the anchor. The climb from here up was actually quite tricky, because it was overhanging. Unfortunately, time took it's toll, and this tower is no longer standing...how sad.

Glenn of the Fox line
Above is my friend Glenn showing off while Foxing! Some call it a zipline. We put up 500 foot of cable between a couple towers we built and had fun! Before this we had a short 200 foot line, it was actually more fun. This one just seemed slow, even though timing it said we were hitting faster speeds. For those who don't know, Foxing is traversing a cable (or rope) on a pulley. The pulley we hang on to is called a "Tail" (fox, tail, see the connection)

On a training exercise
I was able to get a snap shot while we were on a training exercise. Normally, I don't even take the camera, but this time, getting photos was part of the exercise. Not sure exactly what I should talk about with this photo, so I'll just say it's somewhere in the world in 1995.
