Grew up in Traverse City, Michigan, home to:
the Interlochen Arts Academy,
an annual Cherry Festival,
Gordie Howe,
and myriad lakes, forests,
sand dunes, and unspoiled nature.
Earned B.S. in Biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor

Worked two years at Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals Research Division.
In 1998, began theological studies at Concordia Seminary,
training to become a pastor in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod,
In 2001, met and married my beautiful wife Maggie while on a one-year internship at Faith Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wisconsin
On April 23, 2002- received a call to serve as the pastor of
Messiah Lutheran Church
in Salem, Oregon
Right now all our preparations and prayers are focused on this great challenge and opportunity as I hope to be ordained in late June 2002

Graduated from N.E.W. Lutheran High school in 1999,
Began studying at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay,
Worked summers on staff at Camp Luther in Three Lakes, Wisconsin
Moved to St. Louis and married Matthew in 2001
Moving to Salem, Oregon in June 2002
with the intention of returning to college in Fall
