             = Wiki Systems

INTRODUCTION

This file contains some more investigations about wiki systems.
   See also the file http://geocities.com/matth3wbishop/docs/wiki-systems.html
which contains a discussion about wikis but not much of an appraisal
   of specific wikis

DESIRABLE FEATURES (FOR ME)

No requirement for an SQL database.
Making of headings into hyperlinked HTML tables of contents
In a language which I understand (eg java, perl, php)
A non garbled wiki markup syntax.
I do not really like wiki syntaxes which require all kinds of
strange markup codes. The less markup the better in my opinion.
   User login.

I am looking for a wiki which doesn't require an SQL database, has
user login features and can be installed on a share web-host such as
   the one at http://www.retrovox.com.au/

DIFFERENT WIKIS

   "UseMod" http://www.usemod.com/cgi-bin/wiki.pl
      A simple perl wiki

   http://www.oddmuse.org
      Features:
No Sql Requirement, Perl, Single Script, Nice formatting language,
Search, Search and Replace, Rss feeds,

I like this one. It allows hyperlinking in a sort of academic
format where the hyperlinks get transformed into numbered links
which look like this [n] where n is a number.

It is based on perl and is an evolution of the usemod wiki.
It appears to have nice css formatting. It doesn't require an
      SQL database.

OTHER THINGS

I enjoy the super simplicity of this html page, which is the home page
    for the ghostscript program
