One of the benefits of living in the Tri-Cities is that there is no shortage of outdoor activities for children to enjoy. In West Richland, we already have a good number of parks and play-areas but these are found primarily in the older and more established neighborhoods of our city. The newer and developing neighborhoods of our community also need parks because of all the benefits they provide. Yes, they beautify the area and encourage a more active younger generation, but they also give children a safe place to go where their parents can feel better about their security. In turn, this promotes a positive and centralized sense of community but this doesn't happen if families and children aren't within walking distance of a park. By creating just a few more more parks we can extend this sense of community to many more of our West Richland residents and make our city better for everyone in the process. |
