On 1 January 1998 I was at the Rosebowl Parade. I also helped put flowers on one of the floats. I was in Pasadena and stopped in to the local library to ask where to find the floats and the desk clerk said, "Well, let's look on the internet." and she went to this site to find all the information I needed. Have fun looking...Matt http://www.tournamentofroses.com
Subject: 04 - Sessions First Quarter 2001 1. This look like a goo teaching tool to me. But some of the CDC Members will have to give up their habit of reading their email in their inboxes and then deleting it. These messages labeled with a number and the word Sessions will build on each other. 2. CDC parties. Already there are three parties planned one each for Jan, Feb, and Mar. But to get the details you will have to come back to this message and go to this web site which has not been built yet: http://www.geocities.com/eleanore25/3parties.html I will help Eleanore build this web-site on Tuesday, 2 January 2001. 3. The meetings at Seminole Library will be on Tue, Thurs, and Sat for Jan and Feb with Lesson One being from 10 am to 11 am on hotmail and wordpad and Lesson Two being from 11 am until Noon on HTML and homepages [web-sites]. The exception will be on the third Saturday of the month when I, Matt, will be at the library at 2 pm because I have another appointment at 10 am on that day. 4. On 22 Feb 2001 until 1 Mar 2001 I, Matt, will be at the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. During 3-10 March 2001 I, Matt, will be in Salt Lake City. And finally I will be in Grand Coulee, Washington during 10-28 March 2001. I will be out of touch on the internet during the time at Mardi Gras and maybe while in Salt Lake City. 5. I think the time at Seminole Library today, 30 Dec 00, was productive and I like this new way of doing things. Here are some sites for you to visit: a. I watch Ernest Borginie in the Wild Bunch this evening and remember I saw him at the Lone Pine Film Festival in October 1999. My newphew Jim built a web-site for me showing that at: http://www.grandcouleedam.com/matt I hope it is still there. b. If you want to learn about HTML go here and print out the 13 pages of tutorial which I used to learn about HTML in March 1996. http://www.geocities.com/Athens/2090 c. When sending web-sites by hotmail include the whole URL. Just www.nbci.com is not lite up so you can click on it. But this way: http://www.nbci.com it becomes a "hot link" or "clickable" so that you can go to the web-site indicated. 6. So hang on and here we go...Matt 8:46 pm, Sat 30 December 2000
Just don't feel like adding anything today...maybe tomorrow.
Subject: Looking on the internet 1. I wrote my Christmas Letter 2000 yesterday and made 30 copies to mail out to relatives and friends who don't have email. This has sure improved from five years ago when a lot more of my relatives didn't have an email address. It took me all last evening to prepare mailing labels, stuff envelope, label, and stamp the envelopes and now I only have 20 envelopes to mail today. 2. At 3:54 pm yesterday I started to email the letter and when I was finished it was 4:03 pm. So I emailed my Christmas Letter 2000 to 250 email addresses in nine minutes. And I'm through with that. It is up to the receivers to comply, if they want to, with the contents of the letter. 3. I wondered just who the letter went to so have complied this list: 21 to Computer Club, [will complete list later]. 4. The point is that 250 got the letter and the count at 4 pm was 894. When I looked at 8:30 last night the count was 897. So this morning at 8 am I will look now to see how many looked at the web site. I don't know who may want to look at it and don't know how or who doesn't even try to look at it. More later...Matt 7:56 AM 12/28/2000
Subject: A Lot of Things to do, but No.
1. I sure have a lot of things I can do, but I just don't feel
like doing anything. Maybe I'll start after the first of the year.
2. There is so much I could do on the computer, but very little
response from others so why bother?...Matt 7:54 AM 12/27/2000

Dear 27 December 2000
MATT ANNUAL CHRISTMAS LETTER FOR 2000
I just realized again that unless I have a project to do I
don't do anything. I have certain things I have to do which
are: (1) Pay monthly bills, (2) Pay quarterly Real Estate
Taxes, (3) Pay Income Tax, and (4) Attend Doctor's
appointments. Since doing these for December and after Rick and
Ruth visit I haven't done much. I just realized this morning I
even forgot to look at some Christmas Cards I got in the post
office mail on 12 December.
But the rest is just somethin to do at my discretion between
meals and from now until death. It is usally somethin I like to
do, want to do, or enjoy doing. But if I don't make it a
project then it just never gets done. There are daily projects
and long term projects.
So today's project is to answer Christmas Cards and to preceed
until I get it done. I received 20 cards from people who have
email, so I don't understand why they just didn't sent e-mail
Christmas cards and save the cost of the card and the cost of
the stamp. My "Christmas Card" to them will be emailed. So I
will mail this letter to those without email addresses in the
hopes that they send me their email address or visit their local
library and go to this site:
http://www.geocities.com/mattbazaar and there they can click on
a number of links to see my daily diary from 10 Oct 2000 to the
end of the year.
So what are the highlights for my year. It seems I can cover it
best by just l isting my trips so here t hey are:
(1) Mar=To Bob's Birthday in GC, (2) Jul=RCI to New Mexico, (3)
Jul=GCHS Reunion in GC, (4) Sep=RCI to Saouth Dakota, (5)
Oct=Lone Pine Film Festival, (6) Oct=Lawn Project in GC.
My projected trip for 2001 are: Feb=RCI To Mardi Gras in NO,
(2) Mar=RCI to SLC, UT,
(3) Mar=To Bob's Birthday in GC, (4) May=Car trip to NE US, (5)
Jun=Murral trip to GC, (6) Oct=to GC, and trips to Lone Pine
Film Festival and Portugal are to be decided on later.
Now to convince those who say they no nothing about computers to
visit some web sites. You can go to you local library, Kinko's
(cost $12 an hour), a relative's or friend's computer (if they
are on t he internet) or take lessons at a school or
university. But they easiest way is go to your local library
that has the internet and ask someone sitting at one of the
computers to help you look at these web sites [once you are in
the site just click on the hot links to go to other sites]:
No use listing a lot of links here. If you go to the library
and click on the above link and then click on my Homepage and
click on the annual letter there you will see most of the stuff
I put out there last year and most of it is still good just a
year older.
I received a real nice Christmas card for a college pal who
lives here in Floriday and another fried who likves in Cleveland-
--the same card at 644K bites---if you want to see it just let
me know and I will email it to your email address, but it is so
big that it is you decision.
Well, that wasn't so bad to type, Now to copy, fold, mutalate,
stuff envelopes, address, and stamp envelopes and get it in the
mail. I have been doing email christmas cards since 1996 now
and this is just the way to get to them if you are interested
and not to lazy, scared or indeferent to visit a computer.
I don't know if this does anything for you, but it makes me feel
better. I guess I will post office mail about 20 of these
letters to relatives and friends and email everyone else I have
an email address for. If this is just too much trouble for you
just send me an email to delete you from my distribution list
and you are gone forever if you want. Otherwise periodic email
messages will come you way when I feel like it.

Subject: Web Page Suffixes 1. Web pages on the internet have usually one of ten suffixes. These web sites most always start with http://www. and tells the computer to "bring up" this web site when you enter it in you browser. 2. The two most common browsers are "Internet Explorer" and "Netscape Navigator". There is also "Microsoft Network". 3. The ten most common suffixes identified with web pages are: http://www.hotmail.com .......com = commercial http://www.whitehouse.gov ....gov = government http://www.gonzaga.edu .......edu = education http://www.........mil .......mil = military http://www.........net .......net = network http://www.........org .......org = organization http://www. http://www. http://www. http://www.........cc .......cc = newest suffix 4. I forget the other three, but they are not common and I may find them elsewhere again and will put them here with an example later. 5. I just heard about the tenth one and don't know what it does. 6. Pictures are identified by different suffix. They can not be edited. Here are some of their suffixes: .jpg .gif .bmp .tif 7. If you describe a web site as www.nbci.com it cannot be activated by clicking on it while in hotmail, but if you put the full web site: http://www.nbci.com then it is a hot link in hotmail and all you have to do is click on it to activate it. So much for this lesson...Matt 9:22 AM 12/26/2000
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Subject" Movie "Cast Away" 1. I saw the Tom Hank's Movie, "Cast Away" Saturday evening and I can see where it could win the Academy Award for best picture and the third oscar for Tom Hanks. 2. I read in the St Pete Times that Dunedin, Florida, native and country music singer Lari White makes her screen debut in the movie and is notable in the last scene in the movie. 3. I have heard that two other movies might get nominated for for best picture of the year. They are Erin Brokavitch and Gladiator. I'll guess that of the three Cast Away will win the oscar...Matt 11:22 PM 12/23/2000
Terry, At one time the highest I had was 60% disability not 70%. Enjoyed your Christmas letter. I read one sentence wrong the first time. You said something about the 60+ clients and I wondered why she didn't know if she had 61 clients or 62 clients or 63 clients or... and then I realized it must mean 60 years of age. Since we are not talking about Adolph's painting there isn't much to say. Sherry hasn't sent me an update on Eddie since the last one I forwarded to everyone. And no word from any of the other Pachosa's. I got a Christmas Card that told me they like the email about the Pachosa History, but I never received an email from them about the same thing and they have email.
Very discouraging that nobody is looking at this site, but I guess I will continue updating it until the first of the year.
