THUR, 14 December 2000, DAILY ENTRIES
Two things have happened this week that are interesting. On Mon
I went to look at New cars and bought one which I picked up on
Tues. A 2001 Saturn Stationwagon just like my other one that I
bought in Jan 1995. Buying this new car means that I don't have
to spend the money on the old car to buy four new tires, Get the wheels aligned, have the air conditioner fixed, or fill up the
gas tank...Matt [7:45 am Thur, 14 Dec 00]

PS I'll tell you about the second thing at a later time.

WED, 13 December 2000, DAILY ENTRIES
These past couple of days, Hotmail has really been slow, but it is back up and running again. When I couldn't get into Hotmail yesterday I started thinking about using Suncoast Freenet (SCFN) again and also the secret rooms in the geocities homepages. Will have to look into that again...Matt [5:27 am. 13 Dec 00]

MON, 11 December 2000, DAILY ENTRIES
Subject: 22 Years Ago This Evening. 10:37 PM 12/11/2000

1. It just occurred to me about 3 pm this afternoon that it was on
Monday, 11 December 1978 That I finished my tour in Washington, DC
and was on a flight to Germany to begin my tour there. I had arrived
in Washington O/A 25 July 1974 to begin my Washington DC tour.

2. In anticipation of my tour in Germany I had taken a two-week leave
in September to visit home in Grand Coulee. I knew I was going to Germany
in December, but I didn't want to travel accross the States To Wash and
then back to NY to fly to Germany so I took my leave in September.

3. Mom and Dad knew I was being assigned to Germany for three years and
the last thing Mom said to me was, "I hope we are both here when you get
back." Mom died on Saturday 27 Jan 1979. Dad lived until 22 Feb 1997.

4. So getting ready to go to Germany I had sold my car to my neighbor
but would drive it until I left. I cancelled my phone effective Mon.
I went to work Monday until Noon just to say goodbuy to everyone and
when I got home I rang the neighbor's doorbell and gave him his car key.
I went into my house [I left it with a realtor to sell] and tried to call
for a taxi to take me to National Airport. But my phone had already been
disconnected so rang the neighbor's doorbell agaim and use their phone.

5. Flew to Kennedy Internationl Airport and left there about 6:30 pm on
a flight to Germany. Arrived there the next morning and my sponsor met
me and checked me into my BOQ room which I had the hold time in Germany.
So by noon I was ready to start working on my new job.

6. Most people take leave in connection of a permanent change of Station
but I stopped work one day at noon in Washington DC and started work the
nest day at noon in Germany...Matt

Suject: cyprussgardens.com

1. Well, it was foundable on the internet and you can now go there and
look around. It was real easy to find at: http://www.cyprussgardens.com

2. I road the Island in the Sky at night so saw the Christmas
light from there. Here is a picture of Island in the Sky...
The Island hold about 100 people and it pivots up to 150 feet above
the ground while the top part rotates two times during the complete
ride. It started at Cypruss Gardens in September 1983 and now there
are four others in the world. One complete cycle takes about ten
minutes to load the people take the Island to the top and back and
unload the passengers.

2. The other thing I remember is that Cypress Gardens was featured in an
Esther Williams Movie which I saw when it came our in theatres. The pool
which they built for the movie was in the shape of Florida and is still
there. I think the movie was:
Million Dollar Mermaid (1952)
Once of the scenes in the movies was this pool filled with oranges floating
on the water.

3. I hope these URL help you look around the internet...Matt

Subject: Bridgette Andersen

1. When you go into: http://www.imdb.com and change the "Search Databas for"
to "People" and type in "bridgette andersen" you will find out what happened
to her. I liked her as a young actress in movies listed under her name as
numbers 2, 5, and 9. I wondered what happened to her so looked her up. The
last movie she was in was 1987 so what did she do after that? Look her up.
I was shocked.

2. Her movie number 5 was a movie that my Cousin, Steve Clark Pachosa, was
in also, but they didn't give him credit under his name in this site. But
they do list the other 11 movies he has been in.

3. When I couldn't remember the name of his first movie I looked up the
movie, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" because I knew that the nurse in
this movie was in Steve's Movie, so I then clicked on her name and then
found the movie in 1985 that I wanted and then I click on Bridgette Andersen.

4. So it is fun to browse the net when you have time and know what you are
doing...Matt

Subject: 60 Year Old Paczosa History

1. I've decided not to send the Christmas Card letter about the Future.

2. Lenora wrote me a four page letter in their Christmas Card and
here is what she said about Harold...

"In the second letter it says that they were hanging in the dinning
room--I remember there was a bed in that room in 1940 and I thought
it was Harold's room. Anyway, that doesn't matter. When we arrived
in Manchester we looked up the house on Baker Street the first thing.
Marianne was home alone and we spent about 2 hrs visiting her and she
suggested we go look up Harold. He was working in a shoe factory as
a repair man on the sewing machines, etc. We entered the building and
Harry asked for Harold and the man asked who we were. Harry told him
he was his cousin from Washing state and the man invited us into the
room where all the sewing machines were. I remember it as a very busy
and noisy place. The man pointed up to the ceiling of the room and
said Harold is up there working on some kind of electric circut that
had gone out. He was so high in the top of that building we could
hardly see him. The man yelled up to Harold that he had visitors from
Washington and Harold swung around and was so surprised. I thought he
was going to fall--he really scared me. He yelled down to us he would
be finished in a few minutes. He came down on the longest ladder that
I had seen at the time. I could hardly look at it. He was so happy to
see Harry he stopped work right then.

We stayed there 2 weeks. Harry went to the factory and helped Harold
with some work he had to do. I can't remember what, and Harold wanted
Harry to stay in Man. and then the two of them could start a business
together, but Harry told him he had a job in California. Harold then
wanted to go back with us but that was out of the questioh as our car
was packed and just enough room for us. His mother did not want
him to go--she was very much attached to him.

Eddie, his Dad, offered us a house to live in if we would stay there--
they were really serious about it. The morning we left as we backed
out of the driveway, Harold stood and watched us leave and I really
felt sorry for him. I think just like any young boy (he was 1 yr
younger than Harry I believe) he wanted to get out on his own. He
was a very capable person and could fix anything just like all the
Pachosa's and very friendly.

It really saddened us to hear of his death and it must have been hard
on his family especially his mother. T told Annette I would write to
her, but she said she wouldn't answer and she never did. Even at
Christmas she sent cards, but no message.

I have good memories of the tip in 1940 meeting so many of the family.
Most of the visiting was in Polish, but I was able to visit anyway.
Now to get back to the pictures--I can't say I remember them,
but I do remember seeing the paintings on the wall--the same for Harry.
God Bless, Lenora."

3. I think that letter is so interesting. Hearing of what happened
60 years ago as if it just happened. The room was a dinning room when
I saw it, but it was probably Harold's room so that is why the Lady by
the Waterfall was okay in Harold's room...Matt 2:11 PM 12/10/2000

Subject: Matt had an Interesting Day

1. I received two Christmas Cards yesterday, one delt with 60
year old history of the Paczosa family and one delt with the
future. I haven't decided what to do with the second one, but
will furnish the first one later.

2. Went to Cypress Gardens last evening to see the lights.
With only two hours there I waited in line to ride the "Island
in the Sky" and watch what I guess where high school kids put
on an ice skating show and then it was time to start back. I
will look on the internet later for a web site for Cypress Gardens.

3. This morning, Sun 10 Dec 00, at 8:32, I just saw on TV the
start of the fast train "Acela" so will look for that site too.

4. I saw a picture in the newspaper of a submarine here in Tampa
that they are repairing and painting for a new movie they are going
to make in Canada starring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson.
So I went to: http://www.imdb.com and found out the name of the movie.
Can you do the same thing? I'll guess it will be in theatres in
the Fall of 2001. What is your guess?

5. A lot of work on the computer to do the things I want to do in
December, but will take it a little at a time...Matt 8:59 AM 12/10/2000
