Entry for September 14, 2006

We heard from the Neurosurgeon today and he confirmed his diagnosis that we are dealing with a tumor.  Likely, it’s a low-grade "glioma" tumor to be exact.  Basically, there are a couple of options moving forward.  1. We can do a procedure that is less invasive that takes a sample of the brain and we can test it before actually removing the mass.  2. We can just go in and take it out.  I'm thinking we will likely choose to just go for it and get it done.  Recovery is only a couple weeks and they see no reason why I shouldn't return to doing all that I did before the surgery.  We still have another appointment with the Neurologist at Baylor Hospital on Friday to share the Neurosurgeon’s opinion and receive additional confirmation or debate or discussion.  Either way, the outcome looks the same....we want to know for sure what it really is in there and the only way to know for sure is to operate.  This could happen in as soon as 2-weeks.

I'm feeling good....no problems.  Just want to get this handled now and move on.

I want to thank everyone for their well wishes, concern, thoughts, prayers and help.  Murad has been unbelievably strong and supportive and I know your calls, email and friendship means so much to him.

We'll keep you all updated.

Matt
