| LONG POND: Located In Greece, NY is a shallow pond just off of Lake Ontario. This is a great place to learn and often is the most popular site to meet and sail with other windsurfers from Rochester when the wind is blowing out of the south. Early in the year the wind on long pond is often strong and sailable when the lake is not. and the water warms up quickly due to its shallow depth. Getting to long pond is easy. From the south take 390 north to the lake ontario parkway. Head west on the parkway to the Long Pond Road exit. Turn North (Right) on long pond road. continue to the 4 way stop.(Fire dept.on left) Turn left and you will soon see long pond on your left. Parking and rigging is usually done on the grass across from the pond. next to the road. There is a small gap in the guard rails where most sailors launch from. |

| DURAND EASTMAN PARK: Located In Irondequoit, NY is on the shore of Lake Ontario. This site is sailed mostly during west or north east/west winds. The large beach is helpful for beginners who might need to walk back upwind on occasion. The most commonly used launch site is the beach off of the parking lot farthest to the west along Lakeshore Blvd. Take 590 north to turn left onto Durand Blvd (last stoplight before end of 590). | WEBSTER PARK: On the shore of Lake Ontario in Webster. This site is for more advanced sailors due to a pier at the launch site that can make sailing in and out difficult for beginners. The ideal wind is west or some combination of north and east/west. There is ample parking and grass to rig on. Take 590 north to 104 east to Webster. Exit at Holt Road and go north on Holt road to the end. Turn left onto Lake road you will soon see the parking lot entrance on the right. |
| CANANDAIGUA LAKE: Kershaw Park is located at the north end of Canadaigua Lake. It has a beautiful park that has both a swimming beach and a small craft launch. The launch site has it's own free parking lot and plenty of grass to rig. There is a pavilion and multiple picnic tables. Kershaw park is beautiful place to bring the family for the day. The town has recently added a beach house that during the summer even sells refreshments. Due to the north-south layout of the lake the best sailing occurs when the wind is some where out of the south. This is also an excellent place to learn to windsurf. The water is shallow for a few hundred feet from shore and the bottom is clean and sandy. Canadaguia Sailboards has the acclaimed Starboard "Start" available for rental, the shop is located just a short walk from the beach at Kershaw park.. | SENECA LAKE: located off of Routes 5 and 20 at the North end of Seneca lake is a state park with plenty of parking. There is a large grass area to rig near the marina another launch is the Chamber of Commerce building near the park entrance. There are many small restaurants less than 10 minutes in the village of Geneva. NYS Parks Seneca Lake area info. |
