As dusk dimmed into night, the oncoming headlights blinded me more and more. Its not only the problem of not being able to see the road ahead, but also knowing that there are for sure, cyclists and pedestrians cluttering up the highway. Many Tatas have headlamp dipping slogans painted on their rears, but very rarely do vehicles dip, or respond to my impotent flashes. Tata's still overtake in the same way as they do in daylight hours, but you get a very different view depending on which of the four headlights approaching are working. Thee headlights - Is that bike overtaking, or a truck with a defective headlamp - best to drop to the hard shoulder anyway. Once I thought the road ahead was clear, and an unlit bus loomed out of the dark in front of me. It had honked, but so had everything else on the road. After that I decided to stick behind one lit vehicle and sit the rest out in safety.
