Hi Kevin,

Thanks so much for the e-mail. I visited your website and it is so cool I read all you wrote. I could not find a gustbook to sign though. I was sad because you were beaten. I know what that is like. I am Zimbabwe's first Black gymnast and some people have been very cruel to me. When Zimbabwe was Rhodesia only white children were allowed to do the sport or watch the sport. The same people still run and control the sport so you can think of the type of people I had to be with and the kinds of things they would do to me. I am 13, but at 12 I was already Zimbabwe's balance beam champion and I was about to over pass those girls in all events as well. They were much older than me and more experienced gymansts. Well I would like to still do gym, but I have already done what needed to be done, break the color barrier and even score higher than those other girls who always were so mean to me. They all quit after the All Africa Games. Currently there is no more Zimbabwe's Womens national gymnastics team. I now just do ballet. In Rhodeswia, only white children were allowed to do ballet too, so it is another uphill battle. No Black from Zimbabwe has ever been a principal dancer in the National ballet of Zimbabwe or any other place in the world.

I do not like to kill insects either. If we get them in the house we try to capture them and put them outside. All living things have the right to life. Sometimes though we wind up killing some. My sister is allergic to some ants and maybe some poisonous ones so we then sometimes kill them and we always feel bad and want them to forgive us for killing them. My mom has to protect my sister. I am thinking of stopping eating animals too, although plants are living things too.

In Zimbabwe we eat bugs, but I don't know how they cook them. I never thought about it before. A lot of seafood is also cooked alive, like lobsters. My grandmothers would cook insects in the village or you would by them at a store. We eat a certain type of beetle and a certain type of catapiller and grasshopper.

I am going to link to your website. How did you find my website? Did you find one of my personal websites or did you find my Millennium Dreamers website? You did not sign any of the guestbooks, so I don't know what one you visited. I suggest you sign the millennium dreamers website so others dreamers can get in touch with you. I also made a list serve for Millennium Dreamers. There are about 130 Dreamers from around the world on it, they speak different languages. I speak Shona and English. I am studying Spanish. I hope to take French when I start college full time.

How did you travel so much around the world? I have been to USA, Zimbabe, South Africa and Canada. My dad is a Zimbabean, my mom is a dual citizen of USA and Zimbabwe and my sister and I are dual citizens of USA and Zimbabwe. My half sister is a citizen of USA and a resident of Zimbabwe and my half brother a citizen of Canada and a resident of Zimbabwe! My uncle is a dual citizen of Zimbabwe and South Africa, my cousin is a dual citizen of Mexico and USA, my niece is a dual citizen of Japan and USA. I live in USA and Zimbabwe.

If you want to see me, I am at: http://www.geocities.com/sashamde that is my gymnastics website. I was a member of the Zimbabwe national gymnastics team I am now only studying ballet, and I have a ballet website at: http://www.geocities.com/chipo53/ballet.html I don't know if you like gymnastics or ballet. The Dreamers site is at: http://www.geocities.com/zimbabwe_gurl

I will put your story on the Dreamer website if you want. Just let me know.

I wanted to come to NYC for the Dance Theater of Harlem summer ballet school, but I don't think I will be going to, but you never know. I have a friend there in Long Island, her parents use to dance at the Bolshoi Ballet in Russia, now they have a studio in NYC where they teach. I train with them every summer when they come to Oregon, that is how I met their daughter. If I come to NYC this summer, maybe we can meet and do some fun things together.
