| Project #4- Another P1Xtreme (AX84) | ||||||||
| Built from the 2005 AX84 standard schematic. This is my 2006 4th of July Project & I built the transformers for it too. I was after that Mesa Boogie custom Subway Rocket look with the cane grill this time. The weird thing is that the Fender 25R cabinet I started with is almost identical to my early 80's SuperChamp. Details: 8-Pin Octal Power Tube 9-Pin 12AX7 Pre-amp 275-0-275 "MPS" EI100 PT 5K;8 Ohm "MPS" SE EI87 PT 25Watt Fender 25R solid state amp from EBay for around $30- used the Fender Indonesian ceramic 10" speaker. Built the eyelet board from scratch Bent up the Aluminum Chassis at home. Total estimated costs ~$100. Not counting the 400 hours of labor!!! Results: the goal here was to see if I could make some decent transformers. The PT is actually pretty straightforward and I got the 275-0-275 exactly perfect 1st try. The SE amp OT has more high end in it than other OT's I've used. I can measure the difference in the Leakage Inductance test. I need to play around with the tone stack a bit more before I decide whether or not I went too "HiFi" with the winding interleavings. While I was at it I built a 285-0-285PT (next 18W!) and a 300-0-300PT (Deluxe?). I also built a 190-0-190PT and an SE OT with a slightly smaller stack for a "P1" amp. |

| Had a faceplate made this time! Like it!! | PT is in there "Marshall" style without a top cover. No noise problems if you twist wires and shield the signal leads. | |||||||
| Output transformers: the skinny one will be used for 190-0-190. Used the 1.125" stack on this P1X. | ||||||||
| I have the OT in a pair of horizontal mount covers. The PT is covered only on the outside. | ||||||||

| Here's the finished P1X (Brown/Cane) and my 80's Fender SuperChamp. Almost exactly the same size. | ||||||||
